Arizona Man Kills Record Western Diamondback Rattlesnake First it was 'Jaws' then the spiders, a boa constrictor and a very large alligator. Now it's a monster rattlesnake but wait, it's not a phony movie trick, it's for real!!! Lowell "Butch" Burns of Globe, Az. came upon a world record diamondback snake of 8ft. 10 inches while walking near his camp on Gobbler's Knob. When the snake sounded a warning, Butch said he wanted to tangle with him, but at the same time he didn't want him invading his campsite unannounced either. After he notified authorities of his conquest, the snake was packed in ice and shipped to Arizona State University Herpetology Dept. for study and preservation.

Here is the link to the paper: http://lhcnow.net/dotcom/

The photo is about 3/4 of the way down.

The snakes should be coming out shortly, sooner if the warm weather stays (it has been upper 70's low 80's)
