According to the national survey commissioned by the California Academy of Sciences:

* Only 53% of adults know how long it takes for the Earth to revolve around the Sun.
* Only 59% of adults know that the earliest humans and dinosaurs did not live at the same time.
* Only 47% of adults can roughly approximate the percent of the Earth's surface that is covered with water.*
* Only 21% of adults answered all three questions correctly.

1. 24 hours. 2. I knew ...

1. 24 hours.
2. I knew that! I was an archaeology major at one time. While that has nothing to do with dinosaurs, it DOES have to do with humans. lol.
3. 70%
4. How many did I get right?

365 Days Nope but some ...

365 Days
Nope but some people still have dinosaur brains.
3/4's

These are all some of the most standard IQ test questions.

now when you say "revolve" ...

now when you say "revolve" do you mean "rotate" or "orbit" cuz then it'd be 2 diff answers...one would be like conana said and the other is what tgix said...

and I DO know how STUPID people are...just watch Jay Leno when he does his "Jaywalking" segment! If I were that dumb, I'd certainly NOT be on tv doing it!

Sorry Dawn but the Earth ...

Sorry Dawn but the Earth only goes AROUND the Sun once every 365 days. It does revolve on it's own axis every 24 hours so I can see where the terminology used there could be a little misleading.

At any rate, what I want to know is how did it just happen to be that the planet would know to go around the Sun in exactly one calendar year? I mean what are the chances of such a coincidence?

1. 365 day is the time ...

1. 365 day is the time takes the earth to circle the sun, thats how we get the 1 year calender.

2. This one is arguable as some would argue that the dinosaurs didn't die but simply evolve into something else, most think birds.

3. About 75% of the worlds face is covered with water.

Haha, I didn't even ...

Haha, I didn't even consider the question meaning 365 days. I read it differently. I blame my learning disabilities. That's what everyones excuse is now adays, right?

And I was close with the water thing.

I haven't been able to ...

I haven't been able to stay awake long enough to watch Jay with the Jay walking BUT it is HILARIOUS! I wonder if the people have to sign something in order to air thier stupidity. If they do they are even dumber than I thought to broadcast it!!

right that's what I ...

right that's what I thought, it goes AROUND the sun once a year, but rotates on its axis countinuously which gives us days and nights.

"At any rate, what I want ...

"At any rate, what I want to know is how did it just happen to be that the planet would know to go around the Sun in exactly one calendar year? I mean what are the chances of such a coincidence?"

LOL!!! little smart ass...LOL!!!

you know that's what MAKES it a year, the revolution around the sun! LOL!!!

Ok, I'm gonna be a ...

Ok, I'm gonna be a smart-alec here...

The answer to #1 is closer to 365 and 1/4 days....hence the need for a leap day (that extra Feb 29th) every four years to catch up (with the exception of years evenly divisible by 100 - like 1800 and 1900, cuz it's not exactly 1/4 of a day more) - (oh, and years evenly divisible by 1000 - like 2000 - DO get their leap day).
