I just HAVE to get it out already.... | MyPetPeeves.com

I just HAVE to get it out already....

So my roommate is driving me up a f'ing wall lately. I'm biting my tongue because I'm moving this fall and he doesn't know yet (nobody knows yet) but I have HAD it. He hasn't been working many hours, which he knew was a possibility when he took this job. It happened last time he worked for this company, and it's happening again. He's been looking for another job, but can't find one. This boggles my mind because we have tons of jobs up here, so it says to me he's just being too damn picky about what he does. Desperate times call for desperate measures, or at least that's how I was raised.

For the last few weeks when I come home the dishes aren't done. This has got to be one of my BIGGEST peeves. I do the dishes every freakin' night anymore. When I first moved in here it was pretty even who did them, it was more like who had the most in there did them. They NEVER sat over night, let alone TWO nights, and there was never a full sink. As I said before, I have F'ING had it, so lately I stopped doing them when I shouldn't have to. One day last week he decided to do them at 10pm at night, RIGHT AFTER I WENT TO BED (my room is right next to the kitchen). Today he had NO work, and when I get home he's on the computer playing games and the sink is FULL of dishes. What the hell? I'm not doing them, I did them last night. I washed the ONE cup in the sink that I needed, and I'm done. He can f'ing do them.

UGH, it's so freakin' ridiculous, I can't wait to be out of here. I just had to get this off my chest....

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear ...

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear about that. Is there any way for you to move out earlier?

Desperate times call for ...

Desperate times call for desperate measures, or at least that

None of that has anything ...

None of that has anything whatsoever to do with government but Mad Vulcan can't control himself - He is so clearly not at all well in the head.

So, back to the actual subject at hand, disregarding our unfortunate troll -

Where ever said roommate sleeps is precisely where he would be finding his dirty dishes if this was being done to me. I'd place them there without a lot of care as to how they might tip and spill whatever is on them too. The message would be so loud and clear that I seriously doubt he'd ever fail to clean a single item after eating before the last bite of food landed in his stomach.

However, if by any chance that did not achieve the intended results, and because he sounds like he has a very serious gamer addiction, I'd put the stuff right on his keyboard or joy stick or what ever. That'd certainly get the message across loud and clear.

Just lay down the law. Let him know you will no longer tolerate that behavior and that he needs to grow up, you're not his mommy.

I wish I could leave ...

I wish I could leave earlier!!! But I have a vacation planned in June, and I set the move date about two weeks ago. I needed to have an exact date picked out so I can get everything done I need to. Plus my friend coming for the ride is taking time off work so things needed to be set in stone now. She's gotta get a plane ticket so she can get back up here and what not.

TGIX - I would do that but it's not my house, it's his house. It just sucks that he used to be an awesome roommate, and now it's all gone to hell. He just never does anything anymore, around the house or else where. He bought a tent last season to do some camping, and I bought a bigger one earlier this season. He says to me after I bought mine "You could have just bought mine from me, I don't see me using it ever". Makes me want to say "WHY THE HELL DID YOU BUY IT THEN"?!?!?!

Or the good old "I need a girlfriend" and then when I say "hey, some friends and I are going out want to join us" he says "No, I do my drinking at home". How can you bitch about not meeting anyone when you don't go out to meet them?? You don't have to get drunk, you can just hang out. Shit, I had the party bus come get me and he didn't want to join us!

*sigh*

Whatever, I'll be out of here soon... I'll just bite my tongue for now.

You have party buses in ...

You have party buses in Alaska? Shoot - not trying to sound like that loser but -why didn't you say so sooner? I might have to move up there. No lack of jobs and party buses? Hmmmmm... Do ya think the guy might want to sell more than his tent, like his house too? I just made a killing in the market these past couple of weeks. Check it out, CYTR went up about 30% and that's on a penny stock I had thousands of shares in! Do the math! :-D TAP (Molson Coors) also went up dramatically after posting record 85% increase in profits this past quarter! I had a healthy bunch of that too - sold at exactly the right time it seems (well, could have made a good bit more on the CYTR but it went up Most unexpectedly even more just in the last 20 minutes of trading the day before yesterday when I cashed out. I think I'm going to bank it though after reinvesting in LOW which Always pulls up to 20 or 21 but got in at under 19. Just looking for something safer cuz the CYTR and TAP took about half a year of being in the red before I was able to finally realize something from them. At least it was worth holding out all that time. Now seriously thinking about real estate since that market is depressed and I am so sure our gov. is doing a bang up job and it'll bounce back bigtime this year. Closing costs are just outrageous here in MD, either the highest or second highest in the country! Is Alaska land doing alright? Don't steer me towards any active volcano either; call me weird if you will but I have this thing about my property not being flooded or covered in ash or lava.

TGIX are you fucking ...

TGIX are you fucking retarded? Did you understand anything I said TGIX? Because you must be so fucking retarded you don't understand anything. Tell you what TGIX go back and read what I said with your good brain not your retarded brain.

sorry girl, just keep ...

sorry girl, just keep marking X's on the calendar and you'll be gone soon. too bad you couldn't do TGIX's idea!

Well TGIX, we have not had ...

Well TGIX, we have not had the problem with housing that the rest of the country did. In fact, the only "economic problems" we have encountered up here have been when working with companies from down there. We have a VERY steady economy up here, and our house prices just keep going up and up and up. There is only so much land in Anchorage, so that is what determines the prices. They can't build if there's no land. The city is surrounded by water and mountains, so there literally is NO room for expansion. As of right now the only land available for any new building is owned by two companies - so you couldn't go out and buy land and build a house in the city up here. As for closing costs, usually when someone is selling a house they pay the closing costs.

As for the volcano... well we have LOTS of them up here. Redoubt is active, and another has started up too (not as close to the city as Redoubt). It doesn't matter where you live in this state, you are still at risk for ash fall from any of the volcanoes. Don't forget too, that we have over 100 earthquakes a day up here. Oh yeah, and it's now forest fire season. We have one going already (possibly two but one that is getting our big news). If you were to seriously want to buy land up here - you would have to do a LOT of homework into where you wanted to buy. There are places up here that will not insure a home because of things like wildfires, avalanches, floods, etc.

Oh yeah, speaking of floods, it's been a BAD year for floods - they have been evacuating towns non-stop because of flooding.

Ahhh, just a little bit longer and I'll be gone... I would mark the X on the calendar but I don't want ANYONE to know something is up..

OH my Goodness, your room ...

OH my Goodness, your room mate has to be related to my daughters looser-boy boyfriend.
He doesn't work either for many various reasons. My favorite is he has a sleeping disorder and cant sleep at night (wont work nights because then he cant party). His newest is he was in the ER because he has GERD and cant work. OMFG! I have GERD and I manage to work and take care of my family. geesh!

Looser-boy loves sleeping all day, living off welfare.

Sorry bunny! I hope you can find a place of your own. Roommates SUCK!

AK, I'll bet you are not ...

AK, I'll bet you are not without a few imperfections, yourself. To be respected, one must SHOW respect. One must lead by example, get up, wash dishes, sweep, clean windows, and he will undoubtably follow suit.

First off, Diolma is a ...

First off, Diolma is a troll, has no clue, has always been a troll, has always had no clue and is hopeless to change.

OK, now that I've got that out of the way (and wishing I could sweep the nutjob away with a broom as it is no more than dirt and dust, nothing less, nothing more)...

I have done some homework. I don't make moves without doing the recon work. You sure did add to it though. I knew the land was limited in Anchorage and so that keeps the property values up. I was also aware of Redoubt - but not aware of the other volcanoes so thanks for that. That makes me feel a little silly but I haven't made the move yet, never do invest without thorough investigation as I'm doing right here. It Always pays to ask folk who live there (where ever one is interested in investing or another who has experience in the very same investment market) and I also did not know about the flooding. That one concerns me the most. Water can be most destructive. It is also not always very much at all something that can be controlled by a property owner AND is either quite expensive or even impossible to insure against depending upon the particular location.

I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE the heads up on all al that!!!!!

It won't stop me from checking into it further but I will certainly take those factors into consideration before buying any real estate up yonder.

Thank You!!!

tgix, go to Alaska. ...

tgix, go to Alaska. Please. But first, I will send you a nice big package of fish, which you will not eat, but take with you to Anchorage, and hike out to where the Polar Bears are, and invite them to lunch with you........

Hey Diolma - before you ...

Hey Diolma - before you tell me what I should be doing you should SHUT UP and realize that if I'm complaining about dirty dishes then OBVIOUSLY I WASH MY SHARE if not more. You should stop pointing fingers about things you don't know. FYI I am the only person in this house that does anything to keep it clean - the only person that does dishes (in the last 5 week) the only person that cleans the kitchen, bathroom, etc. And how the hell am I going to "lead by example" when I work all day and he's at home sleeping and playing video games???? You're a jackass.

TGIX - are you considering coming up here? If you can afford it, then it would be a VERY smart idea. We have all sorts of climates though, so you would have to know a particular area that you wanted to go to - don't forget we're over twice the size of Texas. But before you consider anything - go out to Lowes or Home Depot, and buy about 20 lamps. Take the shades off, put in the highest possible wattage light, and leave it on in your bedroom. Leave it on 24/7 for three straight months. DO NOT TURN IT OFF EVER for three months.

OK if you make it through that, talk to me then.

Oh and Diolma - if he comes here he won't want your crap fish, we have the best seafood on this planet TYVM. And if you had half a brain you'd know that you can't hike from Anchorage and find a polarbear...

looks like MV has a friend in troll-ville

You know what snowbunny I ...

You know what snowbunny I have not attacked you at all. Yet you keep attacking me. I have had nothing but respect for you. I have never called you a name yet you keep calling me names. I would appreciate if you would stop doing that. I have no problem with you are anyone else on this board except for TGIX.

He burned the bridges along time ago by calling anyone that disagreed with him names and belittling them including me. I have never called you a name or belittled you. If I have done something personal to you then by all means let me know so I may apologize for it.

If you have a problem with ...

If you have a problem with me calling you a troll, then you should stop doing what it is that gives you that name. I can't change who you are and what you do, you have to change that.

You need to put your grudge against TGIX aside, it has destroyed this site. I remember how things used to be, how it was RARE to have a normal conversation with TGIX (VERY rare) but there were those times that it was possible. That's not possible with you anymore. Even your response to his memorial day post was short and impersonal. If you can't lick your wounds and go on to fight another day, then maybe you should be the one to stop coming here. You and your ways has chased dawn and rk off, not to mention MANY others I don't see posting here. Maybe instead of them leaving you should be the one to go.

Don't apologize for doing something personal to all of us, STOP doing it. Actions speak louder then words. So I'll say it again, if you don't want me to call you a "troll" then stop giving me a reason to.

Wasn't considering moving ...

Wasn't considering moving there but definitely want to visit (one of the things on my list of stuff to do within my lifetime) and pretty sure I'd like to spend some serious amount of time there. The place would be primarily as an investment. The way I look at it I'd be thrilled if it just provided enough income to make going there for a vacation/retreat of sorts and nothing more. Anything else would just be gravy.

Ok..I'm not getting into ...

Ok..I'm not getting into the middle of this so called..disagreement.

I'm not siding with anyone here but your roommate is obviously depressed about losing his job..has probably applied for other jobs on the net..with pure Dear John letters in return.

Again..I'm not siding with him at all..but I've been there. The job market sucks and you apply for job after job after job with no replies..and then you open the mailbox to a Dear John/Jill letter saying, "Thank you for you application..however...we've chosen another applicant..will keep your application on file for a year...yada yada...

It still gives him NO excuse to be a pig..as you live there also. It's not like you're husband and wife...be expected to understand his depression..and pick up after him since he's just a roommate.

If he's a good friend of yours..(which is obvious since the two of you became roommates)..I'd have a little chat with him and tell him that you're sick and tired of him not doing anything to find a job (which..in all honesty....he probably IS looking hon...but there's NOTHING OUT THERE!!)

In the chat you have with him...tell him that it upsets you that dishes aren't done..the house is a sty..and while you're working full time..he could at least help out with some of his mere housekeeping skills. Tell him you understand his frustrations about finding another job and that it totally sucks out there..but then emphasize the fact that if he's going to be home all day..the last thing you wanna come home to is a messy house and a sink full of dirty dishes!!
