just a couple of VERY annoying things... | MyPetPeeves.com

just a couple of VERY annoying things...

first, pumping gas at certain idiotic stations that LIMIT how much gas you get at one time. lemme 'splain it: I pay with my card at the pump when I fill up and it takes about 40.00 to fill it up now. WHY did the frickin pump STOP at 35.00!!?? I had to swipe again to FINISH filling up my tank! and then to top it off it was OUT of receipt paper so I had to write down my amount right away or try and remember TWO totals!!! back when gas was higher last summer, it only let you get 50.00! well I had to swipe the card again then too. I really try and avoid these particular stations unless I'm about to run out of gas.

second, FRICKIN I-TUNES SONGS NOW COST 1.29???!!!!! WHAT....THE.....F*****!!!! as if 99 cents wasn't bad enough, or actually, 1.08 with tax, NOW it's damn near 1.50 (with tax) for ONE DAMN song on there! I notice that the "old" songs that were already on there (before the increase) are still 99 cents, but any new songs that come out now are all 1.29!!!!

Believe it or not, there's a station down the road from me that lets you pump your gas and pay inside when you're done. It probably won't last much longer, with the economy and unemployment being so bad.....

Try using Amazon, they ...

Try using Amazon, they have songs for 99 cents or cheaper and at a higher bit rate.

Also, the gas limits are imposed by the credit card companies, not sure why its at some and not others....

My bank authorizes $1 and ...

My bank authorizes $1 and I could pump (as far as I know) as much as I want. But the most I've ever filled my car up for was about $28 and that was when gas was nearly $5/gal.

I was going to download a song last night and saw that it was $1.29. I thought maybe it was that particular song because it was new (can't remember what it was now). So I didn't bother spending that much on one stupid song. I didn't hear that they were raising their rates. You would think they would lower them to draw more customers. $.99 was expensive, but $1.29!? That's just crap!

Wierd thing is I can use ...

Wierd thing is I can use the same card and have have different cut-off at each station I go to. hmmmm..... It is annoying though.

Didnt the rise in price of the songs have to do with taking off the limit of how many devices you can put the song on? When it was .99 you could only put it on 1 iPod, now you can put it on your iPod, burn it to disc and another iPod if you want????

Green eyes-that's the norm ...

Green eyes-that's the norm here. Paying at the pump is rare. Some stations have one pump like that but normally you go in and pay when your done. I remember the firat time i was at a station that wasn't pay inside. I didn't know what to do and people were nice and helped me but i knew they were laughing. When I explained that i never encountered that they couldn't believe it.

Apple raised the rates in ...

Apple raised the rates in a deal with the record companies to eliminate DRM (Digital Rights Management). They are now selling the music without DRM, which is a good thing, but also at a better quality.

I'll explain why DRM is a bad thing. DRM is bad becasue its basically just renting the music, which means you can only do with the music what Apple and/or the RIAA wants you to do. The biggest drawback with DRM is that if the source of the track disappears you lose access to your purchases. So if, Apple for example, were to have gone out of business you would have lost all your DRM based files. Yahoo last summer shut down thier music site, they offered a way to remove DRM
from tracks before they closed, but anyone who didn't convert the files is/was outta luck.

I'm not happy about the higher prices either, but I am happier with Amazon in the first place, I just perfer a web based store anyway. My best advice is to run if you see Digital Rights Management on any online purchase.
