Grrrrrr
Have, errr, HAD this young employee tell me Saturday that she MIGHT be
quiting next week for a job she has been offered since June. The only thing in
her way of said job, is her passing a drug test (she claims she knows what will
wash the drugs out of her system so she can pass this test) and her age (she is
now 17, but will be 18 next month).
Now I told her that IF she ever wants
a good reference from this company OR me, she better give her notice in written
form at least two weeks ahead, but I would allow her to make it a week if she
does so by Monday. She, being 17, did not understand what the 'big deal'
was, and then she asked that she was afraid that if she did turn in her notice,
and she didn't get the job, she wouldn't be allowed to take her notice
back. LOL I congratulated her on feeling the apprehension of being a
'real' adult and told her if she turned in her notice, that showed
responsibility and would likely be allowed to cancel her notice. Great right?
She agreed to tell me Monday (today) IF she got the job and if I needed to cover
her shifts NEXT week. Fine fine fine, just as we discussed. Still with me? Good,
because apparently this responsible appearing young lady must have forgotten our
discussion:
She MISSED her shift yesterday! Day manager texted her (wow, NEVER thought I would EVER say that as a way to reach someone!) and she texted back that she was up in Sacramento buying a car, had to leave earlier that day and had no time to call in. Then she followed that lame excuse with, 'Sorry, hahaha'.
So now I gotta cover her shifts (luckily there are plenty of people looking for her job, inside and outside the company) but what a FRUITCAKE!!! She thought I was kidding about her reference rating, I am not, I will do everything I can do (legally, of course) to wreck her employment life for at least the rest of this month, after that, I am over it.
Heck, just writing this has gotten me over it, but now I still have to handle
the rest of the week with another 'headache' of mine at work. This new
kid (kid is 28) started off like gang busters his first two days, but since has
shown who he really is, a lazy, dirty, cantankerous (fill in the rest),
back-talking (to the supervisors) little BOY! I have made him my personal
project, either he re-impresses me or I will have his resignation 'on my
desk'!
(I always wanted to say that
)
'Funny' thing is, of the two guys I hired last month, the one I thought would be the first out is the one that is actually trying the hardest to stay. He NEVER complains about the same thing more than once, he ALWAYS remembers what he was taught, and, other than how slow he is, is ALWAYS 'perfect' in executing his duties. Now if you ever saw him you would swear he was around 50 or 60 years old, but this guy is 43!!! But he is also a recovering alcoholic and his last twenty+ years were working in Arizona and Reno, mostly outside, so mix the sun and the drink, you get twenty plus years added on. His slowness I attribute to what the alcohol may have done to his brain over the years (no police record, but drunks don't need the police to get their heads bashed in, he isn't allowed a DL and he is just about to move out of his Alcohol treatment center home, so he is moving along with his life. Hope he keeps on this track. He is also going to get more hours, he is too slow to open, but he can close and work the mids well.
Anyway, gotta go to work now, got to call a purveyor that shorted my store
but were happy to charge us for it!
Somebody tell me what the best way to get through CS without getting mad at
them, I am mostly sure it isn't their fault, but. . .

nasty neighbors
well, the title says it all. but these people take the cake. I've been to their house only a few times, but ONCE was enough for me! HOW do people live like that??!! I've been there for a couple of parties and such and just visiting; they showed us the house AFTER they moved back in after the hurricane. these people are SLOBS, pure and simple. and they had another party yesterday for one of the kids, a barbecue. it sure "smelled" good. but did I dare go there?? NO WAY! I only smelled them cooking outside while I was washing my truck.
I'll just give you a few examples of how slovenly they are: the microwave; I had to heat something up at one of these parties I went to and when I opened it, OMG, I don't think I even used it. HOW do you NOT clean a microwave? If you don't want to clean it then at least use a plastic cover over your food!!! they're real cheap at the dollar store! I use it and STILL have to clean it out when I clean the kitchen.
#2; sloppy house…it's different when you aren't expecting anyone over BUT when you KNOW you have a party and guests coming, CLEAN UP!
#3 MOST people made their homes BETTER after the hurricane, but them, I think was WORSE! these people are NOT hurtin for money but the things they CHOSE to do to their home and HOW they did it boggles me! they picked people who I never would have picked to do MAJOR work on their house and it was s-h-itty and half assed, trying to save money. (the cabinets and tile work are HORRIBLE), unfinished walls, sloppy bathrooms. they didn't do anywhere NEAR as much as they should have to restore and properly fix their house from the flood, cut corners and took the cheap way. in a word, I guess one would call them GHETTO, cuz that's exactly how they live..messy sloppy and NASTY! the front yard is always a MESS. about a year ago, she tried to put a garden in front the house and it was nice while it lasted but she didn't keep it up. and she has grown children that live there too who don't even cut the grass or anything!and the have some sort of water leak so the curb in front their house ALWAYS has water and the grass is swampy and stinks by the curb because of it.they said they call the water co. but no one has come out yet! well if that was me, I sure as hell wouldn't be paying for a leak. I'd nag them day and night until it was fixed. and this lady doesn't even WORK!! so there is NO EXCUSE for the way they live, but if that's how they like it, who am I to judge…but on a good note, they REALLY are nice people but they just live so nastily.

College Roommates!
I have a niece that is all excited about going off to college next month. So it’s hard it is for me not to open my big mouth and talk about the roommate nightmares I experienced in college! Let me just vent on some of these life-scaring events that haunt me still!!!
THESE ARE MY CLOTHES! Okay, we are in college and none of us had much money (except for that one idiot down the hall, but that is another rant), but I never even thought about wearing my roommates clothes. It just wasn’t something in my thought process, so you can imagine my surprise when I see one of my prized sweaters crossing campus on my roommate!
MESSINESS DOES NOT STAY ON ONE SIDE OF THE ROOM! How did my roommate’s books, notes, Diet Coke cans, and socks end up on my desk all the time? I know I am a bit anal, but come on; if you are a slob, keep it to your area!
WHAT THE HECK DID YOU PUT IN THE FRIDGE? Do you remember those little 1 foot by one foot fridges we had in the dorms? They were about big enough for a six pack of whatever. Well, my roommate would take “leftovers” from the dining hall and put them in our fridge and forget about them until our room smelled like the inside of a tennis shoe after it had been worn while running a couple of marathons!
FOOD, WHAT IS MINE IS MINE, NOT WHAT IS MINE IS YOURS! Bless my mother’s heart; she was not much of a cook or baker, so when she sent the one and only care-package to me, my roommate ate most of it!!!! I guess I should be optimistic and think at least I didn’t consume all of those calories on my own!
HOW DO YOU MAKE THAT NOISE WHEN YOU ARE SLEEPING? You can use your imagination here, but I often wondered what orifice those noises came from! I wish I had recorded them for an experiment later!
But, you know something, my roommate was a great friend then and is today, but there were times I visualized my roommate gagging on one of those mysterious biology experiments that I found in our mini-fridge.
Do you have an experience with a roommate, (or a spouse/friend/travel companion/significant other, etc) – that you’re brave enough to share? Please tell.
Peeve On!
The Peeve Meister
P.S. Congrats to phanophun, our Rant-of-the-Week winner from last week. And good luck to all you Super Peevers this week. We'll be awarding another set of prizes for the best comment to this week's "Rant of the Week.
Speaking of our weekly winners, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge BigSam, one of our winners from last month.
BigSam made a wonderful and generous gesture by suggesting to us, that rather than incur the expense of awarding and shipping his prizes to him in Canada – that instead, Pet Peeves make a donation to a worthwhile charity. I’m please to report that two weeks ago we delivered a box of Pet Peeves popular dog chew toys to our local spcaLA (Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles). They were very appreciative of our donation – on behalf of one of our very special members. Way to go BigSam!

The second half of my week….
Well, this is just one of those weeks I am guessing. After my ****ty day Tuesday, I woke up Wednesday and my neck ended up super screwed up in the first hour of my day. I went all day in severe pain until I could finally go see my chiropractor. Still in pain, but have a much larger range of motion, and it's even better today. Sorry if this rant is long, but I have to get it all out, and it's better to tell the whole story then just part.
Anyways, yesterday at work the Receptionist called off. Typically when our receptionist doesn't come in the dispatcher and GM answer phones. Well the dispatcher decided not to come in as well. Being I had nothing to do I went down an answered called to save the GM a MAJOR headache (he now has to take ALL dispatch calls). Not to "toot my own horn" but I'm an AWESOME receptionist, and I don't mind doing it OCCASIONALLY as it's a nice change of pace. If it paid what I get now I'd do it too, but I have school loans and a car loan to pay off. Everyone has always said it too, every person at every job tells me it. I don't think it's hard to be good at it either. You treat people how you would want to be treated. A friendly voice that wants to help! Well this is not how any of the receptionists have been, and the dispatcher is HORRIBLE at being nice.
Including today I have been receptionist for a total of three days (two in a row right now, one from a while ago). Being in that position I see how bad our dispatcher is doing. I've heard from everyone, but now *I* am taking the flack from customers for what she isn't doing. This includes emergencies. When someone calls up saying "The fire department is getting sick of showing up for false alarms because my sprinkler pressure is messed up" - that's an emergency. When someone says "Something in my mechanical room has discharged" - that's an emergency. Situation #1 has been happening for two days, and #2 happened two weeks ago. So luckily these people got to talk to me, who WANTS to help them, and WANTS the company to do well (job security anyone?). We have a department that has not been scheduled to do any work this month. This is the same lady that bitches when she has a phone call, yet because of her position she gets 90% of the calls.
Today was "talk about the situation with the dispatcher" day. Her reason for being out the last two days?? "I'm tired"…. Yet she has a perscription for Xanax already… So the GM, owners daughter, and myself had a 45 minute chat about the situation. When the owners daughter got married, I sat around with department managers and was blown away by the amount of stuff she ****s up. When they try to tell her, she blows up at them. When the GM tells her, she blames the techs and cries. After us all standing around discussing it the owners daughter said that her father needs to know about it. Which he already does, but doesn't want to say anything.
Just before lunch the GM took the owner into the conference room and had a "closed doors" meeting. I am hoping it has something to do with this dispatcher, being as the conversation about the receptionist being replaced was over before the owner even got there. There was also a 35 second discussion of "Should I go through a temp service or place an ad for a new receptionist" which makes me think they weren't talking about that.
I did lunch today with a few coworkers who explained the situation more. This has apparently been going on for years, it just gets a bit worse as time goes on. They say nothing will happen about it, and that nothing will get done. They say that being the dispatchers son married the owners daughter the owner will not get rid of the dispatcher. I think that's bull, and I don't see why that would be grounds to NOT fire someone. If you're not doing your job you shouldn't have that job. I even told the GM to give me a promotion for a day to do the deed. Although I'm a great receptionist, I don't take **** from people.
This afternoon was quiet, but every time there was a problem with someone, it had to do with the dispatcher. I even had a lady call up about some past due invoices she got a letter about. She hadn't paid them so we were about to send her to collections. She tells me flat out "I have sent your company 5 letters saying NOT to do work at any of these locations. I will pay this bill but I am sick of you doing work where we are not authorizing it, and us being stuck with the bill". I realized this was a good opportunity. I told her flat out "Yeah, that's pretty messed up, and there is nobody to blame but the person sending them there. Here's what to do: with your payment include ANOTHER copy of the letter telling us not to work there. Next, I'm going to give you the owners name, and I would like you to send him a copy of this letter, and perhaps explain the situation. I think he should know what's happening". And I gave her the owners name. I also let the GM know, who said if he knew that's what was going on he would have asked her to send HIM one as well! Hard to argue with complaints in writting, crying bitch dispatcher or not!
After work I do the chiropractor, and decided to get Subway for dinner, something easy and I can relax when I get home. I go in and there's nobody in there. Just a lady with three children. Shouldn't be too long, right??? RIGHT??? RIGHT??? Holy ****ing half hour. I almost knocked this bitch out, but I didn't want to scar the kids. Now that I look back I think I should have knocked her out. Maybe the kids would have learned to either know what they want or let someone who knows go AHEAD of them. GGGGGGRRRRRR If I knew that what I know now, things would have gone differently at Subway today.
Now I'm home, and my friend has sent me a package. His tracking number says it was delivered at 9 am, but I don't have it. I'm supposed to go meet a friend tomorrow night, but she's got a slight cold that I do NOT want to get. Man, what a ****ing week. TG tomorrow IF!!!!
Oh - on a side note I haven't been on during the day because the receptionists computer SUCKS donkey dick. And the GM and I are ready to place some bets that the receptionist AND the dispatcher BOTH call off again. My intentions of work tomorrow are to be receptionist again.

AK needed this, perhaps someone else out there does as well. . .
Picture yourself walking down a nice quiet path in the woods, you can hear birds chirping, but they are in the distance. Picture hearing a bubbling brook up ahead, you are calm, you are calm, you walk on. . . .
Now just picture yourself next to this brook, or maybe a stream, you are calm as you listen to the water running by, you are calm, you are calm.
Now picture yourself holding that <enter name here>'s head
under the water, you are calm, he WILL stop struggling soon, you are calm, you
are calm. Now there is nothing but silence, you can’t even hear the birds,
only sound now is the stream as it carries your disruptions away, because you
STAYED CALM, YOU STAYED CALM. (C:}

THAT other coworker…
I posted a little while ago about the guy that isn't licensed to be doing design but is… Well the Fire Marshall finally called the guy (my superior) who's name and license IS on them. I work with this superior all the time on projects, and went down to talk to him about it just as he got off the phone with the Fire Marshall. I explained everything that was going on with Mr. "I can do it even though you told me not to". He called the guy, and this guy had the nerve to complain about me! He said "Oh she keeps pulling this 'it's not my job' crap".. so my superior told him "It's not her job - it's the technicians job. She does drafting, she doesn't know about products". It's always good to know the guys above me are on my side and know what my job IS. I have NO problems with helping people out, but when they expect me to do something I know nothing about with no help, SCREW THEM.
So yesterday this guy was in the office for a few hours fixing a stair. Now the stair was only wobbly, not broken. He spent over 2 hours fixing this stair but not ONCE asked about these drawings. So luckily my superior was back in the office today and he sat down with me and we went through them (thanks to me going to him). Guess how long it took the two of us….. HALF AN HOUR. That guy avoided me for two weeks and he SHOULD have just sat down and looked over HIS mistakes and it would have been done and resubmitted a week ago. Instead, because he's not in today, my superior and I are going to have to go LOOK at the site and get a few answers. It's ok though, he and I were planning to have lunch together anyways… Just something more to spread out the day!
I am glad my superior got to see what this guy was doing. The guy wasn't supposed to bid the job in the first place, and I remember my superior saying "Watch, it'll all end up in my lap" and it did. This guy is a good worker in the field, but he needs to NOT bid jobs when he's told not to. I am glad I'm working with my superior, he's nicer because he knows WHAT I know how to do, and what he needs to do. Hence the reason he's a designer!!

Overachieving?
I'm not sure if that's the right word for it, but here goes. My
coworker had a job that he wanted to bid. His superior told him NOT to bid the
job. He bid the job anyways, and now we have the project. He was told that he
was in charge of all the design work being he bid it after being instructed not
to. He does not have the qualifications to design, but the person with the
qualifications does not work with the type of system being installed. Mistake #1
- bidding something you were told not to.
So then it came down to my
drafting the plans. I was patient being it was his first time doing this, but he
had no clue what he was doing, or how to do it. He kept saying "well you
know how to do this" and I kept explaining "No, I don't, I just
draw what is handed to me". I don't know how systems work, or spacing
requirements, or part numbers, or wiring information. I am handed a piece
of paper and I draw what is on it. Mistake #2 - thinking I know things I am not
paid to know, or went to school to learn.
Yesterday I got a call from the
Fire Marshall (luckily a former coworker) who had MAJOR problems with the plans.
He knew it wasn't my fault, but wanted to let me know the issues so they
could be taken care of. I wrote them all down, and left a note for the coworker
that he needed to see me. This morning I came in and saw him and said "You
need to get with me so we can correct these plans". He has not gotten with
me. I have been having allergy problems and wanted to get it done before I
took my meds, but he left and did not sit down to figure this
out. Mistake #3 - pissing off the person that can save your ass, the same
person that is now loopy on meds and worthless.
One of the issues the Fire
Marshall had was that when the plans were submitted, there was no product
information (cut sheets). Coworker just called my superior and asked him to tell
me to print these off for him. I just went to see my superior and asked him
"Did he tell you where they are or am I doing an internet
needle-in-the-haystack search". He told me to talk to this coworker when he
gets in. Now again, I do not work with products or in the field. All smoke
detectors look the same to me, and some heat detectors look like smoke detectors
to me. It's not my job or responsibilty to be able to tell them apart,
it's my job to draw where they go on a floor plan. Mistake #4 - ASSuming
people know things that are above and beyond their level.
I'm just furious. I have tried and tried to maintain my cool with this guy on this project, but it's just getting to be more and more of a headache (on top of the sinus one I already have). I have tried to explain things to him on what HE needs to give me and he always says "chill out, we can figure this out". I just want to say "No, YOU need to figure it out as that is what YOUR job as a designer is, my job title says Drafter". So there's an hour left in the day, not near enough time to get this all done, and he's still not here. I hope he doesn't expect anything when he gets here! Thank god it's a long weekend.
Hey wait - I have to add this now that I've done some thinking… It IS a long weekend, and he SHOULD have come to see me today! The more days that pass, the farther the items the Fire Marshall said get from my brain. Yes I wrote them down, but I was on the phone and wrote short little notes, no major details. So then… Mistake #5- Not doing things when they are fresh in someones head!

TGIF!
Finally it's Friday! I didn't make it to work yesterday as I am sick, and I am housesitting for a coworker. I figured I would rest up and be feeling better today. Boy was I wrong! She has these dogs, that are sweet, but untrained. She says "oh they're just puppies" but they're over 6 months now. They do not understand "no". I have told them NO with a firm voice, and they just look at me and wag their tails. I tried to sleep, and every 10 minutes they felt the need to bark. I tell them to shut up, but they don't know what that means either. I asked them to sit, but they don't know it. They just follow me around and bark when I try to lay down in a different room. I tried to lay on the couch, but they just wanted to jump all over me. Last night I looked over and the one was chewing on my shoe!! I can't believe they don't even know NOT to chew on shoes!
These dogs don't go outside either. They have a puppy litter box for them, and use the puppy pads. The whole house smells because of it, and now the dogs will never learn to go outside when they need to. From what I hear these people don't think a dog needs to be trained, that they will just learn everything. I guess they have had to get rid of all their previous pets for this reason - not training them. It's not hard to train a dog, I've done it. But these are no longer puppies, and are past the point of being trained. When I yell NO and they want to play, something is WRONG.
So I came to work today. I figured I would get more rest here then at the house with the devil dogs. They kept me up all night last night, barking every hour. I decided if they bark tonight I'm locking them in the bathroom so I don't have to hear it. Little ****s.

That Evil Troll….
She's at it again. Our receptionist called off today, and I was designated to take her place. I really don't mind too much being as now we know the customers are hearing a happy and helpful voice when they call instead of the "you interrupted my book reading" voice. I took the liberty of organizing her desk (she'll complain when she gets back that her things were touched - but it's OFFICE supplies). I also decided that I was sick of looking at the box that SHOULD have been shredded MONTHS ago. So far I have overheated the shredder twice, and I'm not even halfway through.
Miss you peevers, but I should be back tomorrow, oh.. and
HAPPY CINCO!!!

And that's all that they talk about on the news. I'd like to go BUT it's SO friggin expensive for tickets, not to mention the food, drinks and souvenirs once you get in!!! Oh well I guess I'll stay in for the next 2 weeks!

WONDERFUL!!!
I can see what's going to happen already. They're going to say it was this lady in Colorado that called, then they're going to drop all charges from this incident based on the fact that the search is now considered illegal. We had this kinda thing happen up here - girl smoking crack was busted by a cop, but the way he found her smoking it wasn't legal because he didn't pull her over for anything. She was parked and her plates were too dirty. She fought it and won.
One thing I find interesting, and I wouldn't personally know if it was in any way related, was when I read that book about these people. When the author left her husband she went to a friends house in Colorado, so maybe this lady really did know what was going on there. I mean it is a small world, and anything is possible. Plus the majority of these people ARE related to each other, so perhaps this lady did know.

Boys are dumb
So I broke up with my boyfriend today. He lied to me, and tried to get around answering the question at hand. My ex was a great liar, so I can catch a bad liar pretty easily. Plus, after being with my ex, I see the things he did to get lies to be truths. If I ask a question and it isn't answered, but the subject is changed and avoided and tried to be turned around like *I* am the bad person, then I know there's a lie hidden somewhere.
I don't date liars. So I'm back on the market… I'm better off alone then with a liar. Liars become controllers, and controllers become beaters. I will NOT put myself in that situation.

Tourist Season has begun
It has begun.. I have already encountered some tourists up here, and have just remembered why I hate summer. I had a prick cut me off while pulling out of a hotel, drive 10 mph under the speed limit, and then slam his brakes so he didn't miss McDonalds. This particular McDonalds was less then a mile from the hotel, and we have been having some BEAUTIFUL weather up here. Why travel all the way to Alaska to eat at McDonalds? Why not go to ANY of our local restaurants and try some LOCAL food? You can get a greasy McD's burger ANYWHERE in America, you can't get any of our seafood fresh anywhere else!
The population of my city is about to triple. There is already no parking
downtown, but now it's going to be even worse. I drove through there the
other day, and the amount of people is INSANE! Normally you can drive around 30
mph and hit every light green… Not anymore, don't plan on going over
20, and plan on stopping at EVERY green so you don't hit a tourist that
doesn't pay attention the the little White Man and Red Hand. ![]()
Soon the stupid questions will start. "Where can I find an igloo" - where? Do you see any F-ing snow on the ground? How the hell do we build igloos when there's no snow? "Where is that Moose Ranch I heard of that I can ride a moose?" - That one is ALWAYS great. The Moose Ranch doesn't exist. It's something locals tell them exists when we're stressed out from dealing with them.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, the bring in tons of money.
I would rather our state run off
money from Oil and other Natural resources (salmon, gold, jade, etc.) then have
to deal with these idiots every year. Don't get me wrong, some are ok. Most
of them think it's cool to stop in the middle of the road to take a picture
because "It's the best shot".
Why is it called Tourist Season if I can't hunt and get my limit?

My Boss!!
Ok, so I am LOVING my new job, but my boss is an idiot!! He doesn't do much, if anyhting! He is rarely in the office, and is usually running around. I haave to get his "OK" before I order anything or buy anything that we might need if it is over $100. Well today, he was no where to be found, so I just kept trucking ordering stuff. I called to get the P.O.'s and placed orders and coordinated shipping, got price quotes, and took the city credit card and truck to walmart and got supplies for the guys that he would never say yes or no to………so I sais yes to all of it. We had a party for a guy leaving for Iraq at the city hall, and so we all went up there. My boss has not been seen all day, but he was there. I told him what I bought, and at first he said " You should have ordered that from Bryan, not Austin, cause I could have picked it up." I reply "It's being shipped." "Oh" was all he said. So then I told him I ordered all the pipes the Water Department needed, and he asks me if I called around to get the lowest price. I told him that there were 5 quote sheets on his desk, and I ordered the cheapest one, delivery will be next Wednesday. Oh! He said again. Well he didn't talk to me the rest of the party. That was fine, but we got back to the office, he asked why I was trying to make him look bad. I told him, I was just trying to tie up loose ends, and get the stuff done so we could start the project. I guess he didn't realize I am not just gonna sit there and do NOTHING!! Hell someone has to do what he isn't, right?? Isn't that what I am there for????

I start Monday…
I put in an application with the city almost a month ago. I don't have to have a job, only to save my sanity….. It is a clerk for the parts/maintenance/water department. On Thursday, they called and set up an interview for Friday. I went to the interview on Friday, expecting questions typical of an interview…..Within the first 2 minutes, I knew I had the job. He sat down, and the only question he asked me was if I had tough skin. I said "I have very tough skin, and can hold my own. Why?" He said that it was a male dominated field, and he didn't want someone who would go crying to city hall every time a cuss word was said. I said "No, as long as no one goes crying to city hall when I say them." He smiled. He said he was impressed with my resume, but it wasn't for the working at the post office, but it was for the 5 years at the bar, and my work as a correctional officer at a prison. I was truely shocked. He said that "'hairy legged boys tend to be hairy legged boys, and might hit on me. If there is a problem, to go to him." I said "Thanks, but if it is all the same to you, I will take care of it myself." He studdered out an OK, then smiled. He said that I can smoke in my office if I am a smoker, and if I want to change the color, give him a paint chip, and he will get the boys to paint it. He also went on to say that my hours are Mon-Fri 8-5, with an hour lunch, but if I need to go pick up the kids from school, or go get my nails done, let him know and he will cover the phones until I get back….
Does this seem to good to be true?? Sounds like my idea of a perfect job. He said he doesn't care what I wear, or what I do, as long as the work gets donw. He said he likes for everyone to be happy at what theya re doing, because it is more productive, and it makes everyone's job easier. Anyway, I start Monday. I am more qualified for the job than the woman that is leaving after 5 years, so I will be starting out at her leaving pay level….she is going to be pissed. But from what he said, she doesn't DO anything, won't answer phones, won't return e-mails, won't file, or enter records into the computer……So why is she still there? They can't fire her because she is pregnant. She is taking maternity leave, and wants them to hold her old job. They are not holding it, but giving it to me. As long as they hold a job open for her SOMEWHERE, they are fine, but he said he doesn't want her in the office. He said it was her fault that they are in trouble with the state, because of her non-existing filing system…..
It is going to be so freaking sad how I am going to turn that place around. The office had files in it that were more than 20 years old, sitting in big cardboard filing boxes on the floor!!! She hasn't done a damn thing in 5 years, so it will be fairly rewarding to get it all cleaned up! I'll see all you turkeys when I see you, but hopefully the internet works in my office…or I'll have to get it put in! Hopefully it won't be blocked!!!

Update.
I am so bad! I just called my sister and used the hubby's name in vain. I told her that his leave got changed and he would be home early next week. She is freaking out right now and is scrambling to get out in two days. Of course he isn't coming home until March but I had to resort to underhanded sneaky things to remove the problem. I feel elated right now. She is so gullible she believed everything I told her and I milked the story good. If you want details you will have to send me an email to get the story I told her.

How could some one have over 200 animals??!!
I am sad to saw these dopes are from Texas, but then again not alot I could do about it either. What would someone want with roaches and frogs and spiders?? EWWW
An animal protection group on Friday rescued more than 200 animals, including 26 hissing cockroaches and two bearded dragons, from an eastern Texas home.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said the animals were still being counted Friday night.
The group was acting under the authority of the Harrison County Sheriff's Department and had gone to the property on a warrant regarding medical neglect.
Besides the cockroaches and bearded dragons, the animals included 68 dogs, 16 rabbits, 15 guinea pigs, 13 gerbils, seven doves, two dwarf hamsters, two hedgehogs, an opossum and a pink toe tarantula.
The SPCA said some animals were found in outdoor pens while others were in sheds scattered around the property. Others were in a doublewide trailer living in filth.
The SPCA said many of the dogs were very thin and appeared to be suffering from eye and ear infections. One dead frog and a dead guinea pig were found. The saved animals were to be taken to an animal care center.
A sheriff's department spokesman said he had no information on the raid and didn't know if any arrests were made.

Really?? 7 BILLION dollars, and no one knew???
PARIS (AP) — Police on Saturday questioned the young trader blamed for a massive fraud that cost France's Societe Generale bank more than $7 billion, as the country's president accused global financial institutions of having "gone haywire" and urged common sense.
The possible motivations of the 31-year-old trader, Jerome Kerviel, remained a mystery, and the bank said it appeared that he made no personal gain from the unauthorized trades.
Judicial officials said Kerviel was taken into custody earlier in the day - two days after Societe Generale's announcement that he was responsible for one of history's biggest frauds. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing. Under French law, Kerviel can be held up to 48 hours.
Jean-Michel Aldebert, head of Paris' financial police, said Kerviel gave himself up. He "is very well, he's collaborating," Aldebert told reporters.
The debacle further rattled an already nervous banking sector and has fueled a debate about risk management.
"If we can make profits in a matter of hours, we can also have huge losses," President Nicolas Sarkozy said during a visit to India. "We must stop with this system that has gone haywire and that has lost track of its aim."
He added: "It appears to be time to … inject a bit of common sense into all these systems."
French officials said the trader had been dealing with more than $73.3 billion. That figure outstrips the bank's market capitalization of $52.6 billion, and is close to the annual GDP of entire nations such as Slovakia, Qatar or Libya.
It remains unclear whether Kerviel's actions, if proved, were motivated by malevolence, ambition or some other reason. Three union officials representing Societe Generale employees said managers at the bank who briefed them about the fraud told them Kerviel was having family problems.
Acquaintances described Kerviel as reserved and considerate, a young man who once taught children judo and held the door for elderly neighbors.
Experts and others including France's prime minister have questioned whether a single futures trader could have managed such large sums. Some have suggested Societe Generale might have used Kerviel as a scapegoat for other losses.
Paris prosecutors are conducting a preliminary investigation based on three complaints: one by the bank accusing Kerviel of fraud, and two by small shareholders.
In an interview published Saturday, Societe Generale's chief executive, Daniel Bouton, dismissed the notion that the bank's actions helped fuel the turmoil on world markets.
"It's absurd!" Bouton told Le Figaro daily in an interview published Saturday. "Anyone could calculate our contribution to the market in recent days."
Bouton said Kerviel had been betting throughout 2007 that markets would fall - a winning position. But the trader overstepped his authority and wagered much more money than he should have, Bouton said.
So at the beginning of January, Bouton said, Kerviel voluntarily created losing positions to neutralize his earlier gains and cover his tracks.
But this month's quickly dropping markets turned "this sad affair … into a Greek tragedy: His virtual losing position became huge," Bouton was quoted as saying.
Despite the bank's $7.14 billion losses, which Bouton called "enormous and abnormal," he insisted Societe Generale's viability was not at risk.
In Thursday's statement, the company also announced another $2.99 billion subprime-related loss and said it planned to raise $8.02 billion in new capital.
French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, speaking Saturday at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, said she has been asked to compile a report on the fraud, Dow Jones Newswires reported.
Lagarde said her report will look at "the reality of facts based on real hard data," and "how and why" the bank's security controls failed to prevent the fraud.
The bank says the scale of the damage was so great only because of the bad timing of the discovery - right before the worst day in world markets since Sept. 11, 2001. It also fired Kerviel's supervisors.
Societe Generale's shares have lost nearly half their value over the past six months. After an up-and-down day Friday, the shares closed down 2.5 percent at 108.62

I finally did it!
I took the advice of all of you and my mom and best friends/godmothers to my children. I went to the court house this morning and spoke to the magistrate. He didn't give what I was looking for but told me how to go about doing it. I went to get an eviction served to my sister and her husband. I had to write up a tenant agreement (should've done it in the first place, my mistake to learn from) and get them to sign it. The hard part is getting them to sign it. Give them a week then write up a vacate the premises note, if they do't leave then I can go get the eviction notice served to them. It will take up to 3 weeks after I file the eviction papers for them to get out. I wouldn't have had to go this route if they would just leave and stop coming up with excuses on why they can't come up with the money. I even offered to use my cell phone to call his family and I got "I don't want anyone in your effing family to have my family numbers" Like I want to call his family. They wouldn't like what I had to say anyways. Damn some people just have to have things done the hard way! I feel like I am raising 4 kids instead of the 2 that I have.

I love to cook, but it seems I like to tweak recipes too. I has a recipe for Spinach Manacotti….I didn't care for it, but husband and kids liked it. So I changed it to suit what I wanted…….MUCH BETTER! Do any of you have any ideas for meals…..cause my menu is getting 'stale'. I am getting tired of making the same things…I need a new recipe to cook……..And if it is a good idea, I MIGHT trade recipes with you (If you want it!)

That horrible receptionist
OH man she's dumb. I have a filing cabinet in my office that is used by maybe two people. One of them was at it, on his cellphone. She comes in and says "Hey XXX" - AS HE IS IN MID SENTENCE. Then she askes me if he's on the phone. No, I'm just sitting here playing computer games while he blabs on to me about job information… DUH. So she stands there and waits. I hear the phone start to ring. And it dawns on me - she is the ONLY person here to answer the phone. The other two that help her out are not in the office. Then I wonder, if she's back here, who is up front?
Answer: No one. She could have paged him to the front, and then been able to answer the phone AND help any customers that came in, but she was back here, as far from the front of the office as you can get.
Damn she's dumb.

Update
Ok, I took all of the advice I got yesterday before I left from work for the
day and let it bounce around in my head for a couple of hours. It finally
hit the fan last night. I walked into the guest bathroom and there was
hair all over the place, a razor placed on the side of the bathtub (mind you my
kids use that bathroom daily and since I am potty training my son and corrective
potty training for my daughter that is NOT the place for a razor) and a nasty
smell from someone dropping reckless ass. I went into the den and told
them that unless they wanted to either sit in the ER or stitch the kids up they
had better move the razor. They argued over whose it was. An hour
later when I went to my bedroom to relax and walked into the kids bathroom to
grab a washcloth it was still there. I threw it away and went off.
Slammed doors, started fussing loudly until one of them came out of then
den. I then proceeded to let him have it. He just stood there
shocked, my sister came out and I let her have it too. I told them I
was tired of being walked on, used, screwed, tired of my house being dirty, not
having any groceries, etc, etc, etc. They both agreed that they would go
look for a car this weekend and they would be out in two, three weeks
tops. I also get to go to the concert at the end of the month without
having to worry about the kids. I guess I just had to speak louder
and carry a big gun or two.

I am at my wits end
I don't know how long I can take this anymore. The situation at my house has gotten so out of hand that I don't even want to go home. I leave to get to work very early in the morning and I stay at work until at least 4 or later so I don't have to deal with the houseguests that won't leave.
My sister and her hubby are nasty, lazy pigs. I have actually taken to
hiding food all over my house and in my truck so the kids and I can have things
to drink and eat. I walked into my den and caught them f*&^ing on my
futon. Then she had the nerve to lie to my face and say I wasn't doing
anything. If i hadn't of slammed the door on my kids faces they would
have seen more than they should have. my house computer no longer works,
the dishwasher don't work, my b-i-l law might work 20 hours a week, my
sister works maybe 35. She didn't want to wait the extra 15 minutes
for me to pick her up so she called her man and made him leave work to get
her. She thinks that the bank will approve her for a loan after her third
check gets deposited. Not likely with the amounts she brings in. He
doesn't even get a paycheck, just some money handed to him at the end of the
day and a time to show up the next day. I am to the point that i am
depressed and don't want to go home. I have tickets to a concert at
the end of the month that I don't think I am going to get to go to. I
feel bullied.![]()
