Abstinence Doesn’t Work

By: rkinne01 in People Who Are..., Bossy, Sex, Gay, Lesbian, General, Religion - on December 29th, 2008

http://news.yahoo.com/s/hsn/20081229/hl_hsn/manyteensdontkeepvirginitypledg es

I have always thought that teaching only abstinence was stupid and now I have proof.  Abstinence didn't work in 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, or the 90's and will not work now. We're wired to have sex, hitting puberty is simply the beginning of human sexuality, a fact that can't be denied.  A vast majority of our youth are going to be sexually active, telling them to just say no just doesn't cut it.

We have to give kids information to protect them from STD's, pregnancy, and from thier own misconceptions.  I am not saying that we shouldn't tell kids to wait for sex, but to just give them that facts to protect themselves if they DO choose to get laid.

The churches need to raid the collection plates and buy themselves a clue, substaining from sex just isn't realistic. The Pope and the Catholic Church need to pull thier collective heads out of the sand, people are dying because of your outdated teachings. People in Africa are dying by the MILLIONS because of AIDS, and the Pope is still telling them to not use condoms. I wonder how many deaths he is responsible for, it boggles the mind.

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION

This is probably the best e-mail I've seen in a long, long time. The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA.  This guy should run for President one day…

'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to

help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, and delusional.  We hold these

truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights.'

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth.  More power to you if you can  legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended.  This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone –not just you!   You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm.  If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.  This one is my pet peeve…get an education and go to work…don't expect everyone else to take care of you!

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care.  That would be nice, but if it would turn out the same way as current public housing, we're not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people.  If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you put away for the rest of your sorry life.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job.  All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness.  Being an America means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who  were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country.  We don't care where you are from, English is our language.  Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

(and last but not least….)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage.  This country was founded on the belief in one God.  You are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all, with no fear of persecution.  The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

If you agree, share this with a friend.

No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't.

I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish.

Sensible people of the United States , speak out, because if you do not, who will?

I can't believe they want to protest this funeral!! My local radio guys were talking about it, and they said that the kids friends and family have stated that IF these people show up at the funeral they will handle things themeselves. I kinda hope these people DO make it there, because I would like to see them get f'ed up! I also give Canada MAD respect for refusing to let them into the country!! If only America would grow some balls and shut them up at military funerals!

This May Ruffle Your Feathers

By: rkinne01 in In the News, Sex, Gay, Lesbian, General, Politics/Politicians, Dating, Boyfriends, Girlfriends, Religion, Fatherhood/Dads - on May 25th, 2008

I cannot believe Abstinence is taught in the schools today instead sex education. Abstinence is a complete and total failure, it didn't work in the past and won't now. I don't have a problem with teaching the kids that abstaining is the best option but sex ed should be taught as well. I find it amusing that its the baby Boomers who are preaching this failed policy, hypocrites.

I think that there is so much more mis-information than ever out there in regards to sex. Our kids need to be informed properly so that don't end up with a pregnancy or STD statistic. They should be taught how conception occurs and what steps can be taken to reduce exposure to diseases like AIDS or herpes.

They should also be taught the proper use of condoms, contraception, and how there anatomy should used.  Pregnancy prevention products are useless if not used properly (condoms can rip if not used correctly and can be uncomfortable).

Girls should be taught proper feminie hygenie, how to examine breasts for lumps, and checking the vaginal area for health concerns.  Boys should be taught to check for testicular cancer and other problems.

I know some of you are going to say that its the parents responsibility to explain "the birds and bees" to thier kids but the fact is that they're not doing it.  Today's parents are both working to put food on the table without enough time to have discussions about sex with the kids.

Did you know that 1 out every 4 women will raped at some point (not sure what it is for men)? Would your daughter or son know what to do if they were assaulted? I think this something that teens should be taught, what to do or not do if they a raped. Parents should have this discussion with their kids as well, especially girls.

Kids today think that oral sex is not sex at all and offers no risk, certian sexual positions won't lead to pregnancy, that "pulling out" in time gaurantees safe sex, etc… If there is no sex ed how will any of these myths be dispelled? I highly doubt any teen is going to ask mom and dad about them and if they will the parents have all the right answer?

In closing, I just think that the benefits of sex education far outweight the risks. Solely teaching abstinence is just folly and ineffective.

ANOTHER reason NOT to vote for Clinton. . .

By: WalterTH3rd in People Who Are..., In the News, Gossip, Entertainment, Politics/Politicians, Religion, Rude - on January 11th, 2008

Roseanne debates candidates, slams Oprah

Comedian and opinionated blogger Roseanne debates the merits of various presidential hopefuls in a series of posts on her Web site. Though it’s still not clear whom she’s backing in the primaries, one thing’s for sure: She’s not happy about Oprah Winfrey’s endorsement of Barack Obama.

In fact, the former TV mom delivers a harsher tongue-lashing to the Queen of Talk than any of the candidates. “Oprah has given us Swartzenegger [sic] and Dr. Phil,” Roseanne rants. “If that was not offensive enough to decent thinking people, now she brings us Obama.”

Addressing Oprah directly, Roseanne adds, “You are a closeted republican and chose Barak [sic] Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, Hollywood and dieting!”

Wednesday night, Roseanne seemed to throw her support behind Hillary Clinton, stating, “I have decided that having a woman president before any man of any color is what these times call for.” But by Thursday morning she assured she “liked Obama, too.”

I just looked at this video, I heard he made a new video for us and I saw it and decided to pass it along to you guys. It’s a lot of info to take in, what he’s saying, but to me, he makes himself sound like a saint and that the war was NOT his choice and that all we want to do is kill and God (Allah) doesn’t want it that way and we should stop but we are a capitalist society and it’s all about the money and that when people go against society (war) they get killed for it and he cited that Kennedy wanted to end the Vietnam war and was assassinated for it…and it goes on.
I wanted to check it out for myself to see what he was talking about. Here it is:

I know this is totally off topic, but I’m looking for a short, sweet bible quote about love.  I guess it doesn’t have to be from the bible, but the people I’m going to use it for are religious, so it’d be preferable.  Any ideas?  I’m way too lazy to leaf through the book and web searches aren’t helping any.  Thanks!

something else “interesting”…

By: Dawn in OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, Life, Religion - on August 8th, 2007

I was sent this on myspace:

Isn’t it strange
how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church,
but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn’t it strange
how 2 hours seem so long when you’re at church,
and how short they seem when you’re watching a good movie?

Isn’t it strange
that you can’t find a word to say when you’re praying but..
you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn’t it strange
how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but
how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

Isn’t it strange
how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but
they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn’t it strange
how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks
before the day so we can include it in our agenda,
but we can adj us t it for other events in the last minute?

Isn’t it strange
how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others;
but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

Isn’t it strange
how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but…
we question the words in the Bible?

Isn’t it strange
how everyone wants a place in heaven but…
they don’t want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn’t it strange
how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but
when we are going to send messages about God,
we think about it twice before we share it with others?

IT’S STRANGE ISN’T IT?
Now that you’ve read this message, will you forward it to anybody
that you consider a friend, family member or foe (enemy).
If you choose not to share His message you may deprive yourself
from being blessed as well as depriving others…
who may need God in their life.

**** Kinda makes you think, huh??

Interesting

By: Dawn in General, Religion - on August 4th, 2007

I got this in an email and I thought it was “interesting”. (it’s a little long, but a good read)
——————————— 212;——————————— ;——————
Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death!
Make a personal reflection about this…..
Very interesting, read until the end…..

It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7):
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap.”
Here are some men and women
who mocked God:

John Lennon (Singer):
Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:
“Christianity will end, it will disappear.
I do not have to argue about that. I am certain.
Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him” (1966).
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil ):
During the Presidential campaign, he said if he
got 500,000 votes from his party, not even
God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day
before being made President, then he died.

Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
During A show in Canecio (Rio de Janeiro ),
while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out
some smoke into the air and said: “God, that’s for you.”
He died at the age of 32 of AIDS in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic:
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter
asked him how safe the Titanic would be.
With an ironic tone he said:
“Not even God can sink it”
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic..

Marilyn Monroe (Actress)
She was visited by Billy Graham
during a presentation of a show.
He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her.
After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said:
“I don’t need your Jesus”.
A week later, she was found dead in her apartment..

Bon Scott (Singer)
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang:
“Don’t stop me, I’m going down all the way, down the highway to hell”.
On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was
found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

Campinas (In 2005)
In Campinas, Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend…..
The mother accompanied her to the car and was
so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said
to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car:
“My daughter, go with God and may He protect you..”
She responded: “Only if He (God) travels in the trunk,
because inside here…..It’s already full”
Hours later, news came by that they had been
involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be
recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact.
To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the
Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written.
In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.

Many more important people have forgotten that
there is no other name that was given so much
authority as the name of Jesus. Many have died,
but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive.
——————————— 212;——————————— ;————-

Now I don’t know how true the last 2 stories are.
But I don’t think Bon Scott was mocking Jesus in the song.(I don’t know it very well)
I don’t know, what do you all think?

here we go again………..

By: mry_m in People Who Are..., Religion - on July 18th, 2007

since everyong wants to rant about who wrote the bible here is the historical fact (and btw i am not catholic)

The Catholics have seven more books in their bibles than Protestants do. Since the Catholic Church existed from the time of Christ. And the Protestant Reformation took place in the 16 th Century, it would be unlikely that the Catholic Church added anything to the bible!

The list of the books of the Bible were first officially put together at the Council of Hippo in the year 393 AD. They were then reaffirmed in the Council of Carthage in 397 and again by Pope Innocent I in 405.  In 1546 the Council of Trent solemnly defined and declared these books to be correct.  ”Although only [the Council of] Trent used the words “canon” and canonical”, its list was identical with every list that the Church had provided since the late A. D. 300’s.”  This is the same

i don’t understand

By: dance_master in People Who Are..., Religion - on July 10th, 2007

really, i don’t wanna debate or anything, but if there are any Catholics here, i’ve always wanted to know something, but i don’t ask anyone personally because i don’t want to come across as rude or give any priests the idea that i am trying to stump them, i’m just very curious

what i’m wondering is why are catholic priests not allowed to get married? i have NEVER understood this, when marriage and sex are gifts from God, why deny the very person who’s doing the most Godly work by spreading the gospel the right to have a wife and children? where did this originate? and what is the purpose of this practice? i mean what are they trying to prove by not letting them get married or have sex?

I haven’t been on all weekend because my husband is now deployed to Iraq until near the end of 2008. I am not asking for much just for everyone to keep the troops in their prayers and thoughts and keep their fingers crossed for everyone’s safe return. I hope that Congress can finally decide to stop playing mind games with the American public and get down to business. BRING THE TROOPS HOME!..
