Pro Athletes Hair

By: rkinne01 in Sports, Baseball, Football, Basketball - on November 20th, 2008

What all these guys with funky hair styles? I'm watching the Bulls play and there is the guy with what looks like he has Chia Pet hair. Its distracting and IMO makes the player look like a clown. Why the NBA and the sports organizations allow this is beyond me.

By: WalterTH3rd in OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, In the News, Sports, Football - on July 11th, 2008

That KNEW Brett Favre was NOT staying 'retired'! In fact, the SECOND he uttered the line in his retirement speech, 'I can still play' I knew it wasn't gonna last. I WAS surprised it lasted as long as it did!!!Cool WHY oh WHY did Vegas not take my bet for this???

This is generating a LOT of talk around here and Baton Rouge as well, as you can see.  I agree with most of what the "main guy" is talking about, but THEN there are the A$$HOLES behind him puttin in their 2 cents, which I wouldn't even call it ONE cent worth!  Some people REALLY shouldn't DRINK and TALK!!

Sports announcers

By: TGIX in People Who Are..., Sports, Football - on January 13th, 2008

The whole presentation deal in the NFL has been tweaked to the point of torment over the past year or so. Has anyone else noticed this?

First, they got so full of statistics and flashbacks and things zinging onto and off of the screen like spaceships in a game of asteroids that you couldn't see the game. You literally could not follow the game. Half of it was not even shown! They would come back after a flashback or a quickie interview of a player and the ball had been snapped, the play was already in progress or was over with!

There must have been a LOT of complaints so now they've gone the opposite way with male bimbo announcers like during the the Indy/San Diego game just now. They didn't even seem to know the game. They were clearly appealing to women viewers (a new NFL tact) by talking way more about feeeelings instead of facts. They couldn't explain what was happening during a play, what type of play it was, anything at all about strategy really.

And, not just as a Baltimorean who will Never forgive the Colts for stealing away in the dead of night (Mayflower van lines isn't even in MD anymore LOL! They rarely even pass through and do NOT stop when they do) but as a fan who prefers a fair game, I'm thrill that team's ridiculous fans were Silenced! They All SCREAM at the top of their lungs whenever the opposing team huddles and during the count and the snap. Then they're quiet for Peyton Manning. That's bad sportsmanship. It serves them right to be knocked out of the season today!  :-D

Did anyone see this?

By: MNolen in Football - on December 21st, 2007

I laughed my ass off. Sure you have heard the story. Tony Romo has played the WORST game of his NFL career. His girlfriend Jessica Simpson was in the stands. Dallas Cowboy fans are pissed at her and so are teamates, because they think her being there took away his focus. They said his previously worst game was when his last girlfriend Carrie Underwood was at the game! So now there is a website for fans of people whose team is trying to beat the cowboys…

www.ruinromo.com

Click on it, and laugh your backside to the floor! They want you to cut out the picture of Romo's latest Girlfriend Jessica, and wear her face like a mast to throw him off!!!!! Who comes up with this stuff!

NFL Ruining the Game?

By: rkinne01 in Football - on October 2nd, 2007

Is it just me or is football getting boring? There so many rules that is getting to the point of being too complicated to follow all the changes. I miss the end zone celebrations, bring em back NFL!

OK, we LOST but K-Ville is a pretty good show.

By: Dawn in Television, Entertainment, Football - on September 24th, 2007

the Saints suck big time right now, BUT K-Ville isn't bad! certain scenes are inaccurate, but you wouldn't know unless you live here. Just tonight when they were supposed to be at the "airport" they were no where NEAR it. the bridge in the background was over the Miss. river where you go to the westbank of N.O. and the airport is in Kenner, but I guess you can't really film a show there! It's only had 2 shows so far and I like it, they use accurate streets and landmarks in the city and some of it is actually filmed here! but of course some of the stereotypes naturally come out that people are used to like people putting hot sauce on EVERYTHING and women walking around Bourbon St. half naked showing t*ts for beads when it ain't even Mardi Gras time! and OMG, some people with those GOD-awful "cajun" accents, we REALLY don't talk like that in the city, mostly people in the rural areas do. BUT hey I won't complain, at least someone thought to do a show down here, since CSI backed out right before the hurricane and decided to do CSI: NY instead of CSI: NO! If you haven't seen it, check it out on Monday nights on Fox.

Sportscasters

By: gwallaia in People Who Are..., Football - on May 7th, 2007

I love watching football but the announcers can get on my nerves. Here are a few things they say that tend to bother me at times.

1. They describe an individual person in plural form. For example, “You’ve got your Dan Marinos, and your Joe Montanas and your Troy Aikmans.” What does that mean?

2. The over-used term “class act” ie, “Coach Whistlebritches is a class act.” You will only hear the term “class act” used in sports. It’s never used anywhere else. You will never hear anyone say, “That doctor is a class act.” Instead they will say, “He’s a fine doctor with a pleasant bed side manner.”

3. “Well Dan, there is no love loss between these two teams.” In the history of sports, has there ever been a loss of love between two teams? But what if there was? The voice over the PA system might say this. “Your attention please. Due to a great deal of love lost between the Chargers and Packers, today’s game has been cancelled. Both teams agree that playing today’s game may damage the relationships these two teams have formed and they do not wish to risk this by competing against each other. Please have a nice day and drive safely.”
