Baseball-Out of Control? Manny Greed

By: in People Who Are..., Hollywood Stars, Sports, Baseball, Stupid, Automobile - on December 3rd, 2008

Help me out here. We are all working harder and more hours to make less money while the economy continues to reel out of control. Meanwhile, back in the sporting world these ball players like manny ramirez is holding out for $24 million a year. That is, instead of $20 Million. Sometimes I wonder that all the sports guys and celebrities help to keep feeding the culture that "i can never make enough money" while the rest of us whither. What goes here?

Same thing with the autopresident of GM, Ford.. a couple of those guys made $13 million plus last year. For what? All they did was to continue the failed strategy that they have followed for years. They should give the money back? How do we stop this madness?

Pro Athletes Hair

By: rkinne01 in Sports, Baseball, Football, Basketball - on November 20th, 2008

What all these guys with funky hair styles? I'm watching the Bulls play and there is the guy with what looks like he has Chia Pet hair. Its distracting and IMO makes the player look like a clown. Why the NBA and the sports organizations allow this is beyond me.

Update on Baseball kid…

By: AKsnowbunnie in In the News, Children, Sports, Baseball - on August 26th, 2008

OK My radio guys are talking about this story right now. Turns out the league this pitcher kid plays on is a confidence building league. It's for kids around the age of 9 that have NEVER played ANY sport before. It's a confidence building league that helps beginners learn the sport so that in a year or so they can play with kids their age that have played before in the past.

The pitcher kid was OFFERED to move up to a different league, and he said NO he didn't want to. They have broken the team up and moved the kids onto other teams. They told the kid that pitches he can play, but NOT pitch, and he said no that he wanted to pitch. So due to hearing the rest of the story, I'm going to change my opinion of it. There is no way this kid is a beginner, and he shouldn't have been on a league that is a confidence builder to help kids LEARN the sport. He should have been on a higher league for his level. No way was this the kids first time touching a baseball!

here's the article:  http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2008/08/9-year-old-pitc.html

Just ONE more reason I do NOT care for BaseBall . . .

By: WalterTH3rd in People Who Are..., In the News, Sports, Baseball, Stupid - on January 31st, 2008

Although the 'good' thing is, this did NOT cause the VERY possible outrage and tensions this might have.

Joe torre a racist?

By: soxdude7 in In the News, Baseball - on July 16th, 2007

not that I like joe torre much to begin with, but accusations of the yankees manager being a racist are pretty dangerous territory for a whiner such as Gary Sheffield. At the same time it does bring up a good conversation in that we may not ask often enough whether racism is still prevalent in our sports. Just something to think about, let me know your thoughts.

steroids

By: soxdude7 in People Who Are..., In the News, Drugs, Abuse, Sports, Baseball, Steroids - on July 12th, 2007

I feel like, in all sports, we have passed the point where it is worth complaining about/questioning people for their steroid use. It’s so evident to me that the majority of athletes are using steroids and that we would thus have to subject the whole sports world to ridicule which is ludacris to consider.

unenthusiastic sports “fans”

By: soxdude7 in People Who Are..., Sports, Baseball - on July 11th, 2007

As a redsox fan since birth, and a die hard sox fan at that, I have a lot of trouble dealing with the lethargic sports fans you often find around the country. I’ll site the chicago cubs and their fans as the most frustrating case for me. Cubs fans claim to be hardcore baseball fans, but when you go to a game at wrigley field, where is the energy? Cubs fans use their games as casual social events; there is no excitement or anger. While I am not an angry person, watching the redsox struggle is incredibly frustrating and causes me much anger. There is no comparison between the mood at a game at fenway and a game at wrigley. So until I see serious commitment and energy from the calm, pleasant fans of the midwest I can only view them as phonies and a very large pet peeve of mine.

Baseball

By: Firefly in People Who Are..., Baseball - on July 3rd, 2007

Our company is doing an company get-together at a baseball game.  I am debating whether or not to go.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love baseball, but last time I went to one of those, everyone around me was yelling rude things through the entire game (at the team they were rooting for, nonetheless) and then the guy behind me spilled his beer on me.  Yuck!!!  I stunk of beer the rest of the night (and was riding with someone so couldn’t leave).  Not to mention the girl who sang the national anthem was TERRIBLE - there oughta be a law, it’s just unpatriotic to butcher the national song like she did.

Then again, being the office manager I am really supposed to go to this thing…
