so, I SLICED my finger open while cleaning out my freezer…
and I was in the ER at Ochsner hosp for 3 1/2 hrs! I'm such a 'tard. my freezer in my laundry room needed to be cleaned and I had just gone to Sam's to stock it up again but before I put anything in it, I wanted to wipe it down on the inside. it wasn't as dirty as my fridge that I cleaned last night, but there was some "drippage" from oozing stuff that had melted when the power was out. so I was kinda going fast to hurry up to put the groceries in there and as I was squeezing the towel towards the back of the freezer trying to get in a tight crack where I was some mess, my fingers also kinda squeezed in there with it BUT it was my left MIDDLE finger that caught the brunt of the "attack" as I went to pull out my hand cuz it was such a tight fit it started to hurt me. instead of "sliding" my hand BACK the way it came from, I YANKED it out and BAM!! and this was PLASTIC that cut me like this! I had flesh flapping and blood squirting!!! it looked just like some CSI crap! I thought I'd NEVER stop bleeding! and MAN did that SH!T HURT!! my finger was THROBBING! I honestly thought I ripped it down to the bone! this was about 7pm tonight. the stupid after hours urgent care place was closing at 8:00 and it was already 7:30 by the time I was able to calm down and see that I needed serious help for this. so we HAD to go to the ER. got there about 8:oo and it was 10:00 before I was called in the back, another 1/2 hour before anyone came in there and then he did my stitches (4 of them) and that shot of novacaine HURT cuz he stuck me several time all AROUND my cut!! and it BURNED as it went in my finger each time! I never had stitches before. then, I was done about 11:15. THEN he said to wait for the nurse to tell me instructions and give me my script. ok, simple right…NOT! I sat there til 11:45 and STILL NOBODY CAME!! so I see about 4-5 nurses sitting there and ask if anyone was gonna come cuz I had been finished for about a half hour. then I see her get up and pull my chart from RIGHT IN FRONT of her and bring it to me!!!! ALL THAT TIME WASTED!!! for NOTHING! I was watching them sit at the desk PLAY on the computer the WHOLE time!!! meanwhile, I could have been home resting and David has to work tomorrow so he was tired and needed to get to sleep!! he never usu. works Saturdays, but with all this hurricane crap, they're working tomorrow!
the bright side in all this is I can give a MEAN middle finger "bird" to anyone!

THE WEEKEND FROM HELL
Let's start from the beginning, shall we?
Mom paid $300 for two tickets to a Jimmy Buffett concert in Dallas on Saturday, so I said I would go with her. We party in the parking lot, and Mom got a little, or um, ALOT tipsy. So we go stand in line to buy t-shirts ..someone bumps into me. For some strange reason I reach to my back pocket, and the tickets are GONE! I just got pick-pocketed! HOLY CRAP! I am mad, I search and search, and don't see the guy. So we had to spend another $200 for 2 more tickets from a scalper.
I told mom that we were buying no more alcohol during the concert, so instead, she was taking beers that people were passing around, jello shots, and those mini bottles of liquor (like mini bar size) from people she doesn't know!! So I was baby sitting the rest of the night. Not to mention all the guys butts she tried to pinch!!!!
So anyway, we get back to her house that night, and I got her in bed. The Sunday morning, mom and I go to Wal-Mart. At 10:30 I got a phone call from my husband's dad and step mom. They had Kaylie and Reese camping at the opening of a cowboy church. They said that a part of the rodeo arena fence fell, and hit Reese by the eye, and landed on her leg. They said the preacher's wife is a nurse, and she said it was just bruised. I asked if the took her to the doctor, they said the closest doctor was over 40 miles away, so they will just bring her home later. I hauled ass to get home so I could be there when she got home. As soon as they got home, at 3:30, I dropped Kaylie and Addison off with a friend, and took Reese to the ER. They did x-rays. It is FUCKING BROKE!! Her leg is B-R-O-K-E! She has had a broke tibula (shin bone) for over 5 hours with nothing but come children's tylenol!!!!! I am still super pissed at my in-laws!
But Reese is fine, and we go to the doctor tomorrow so they can re-set the bone and take the hard cast that the ER put on, and replace it with a solid one. She is only four and can't be on crutches, so it is a time and a half to get her to potty. For good measure, my father in law called and said that my step mother in law could take off of work to watch Reese and help take care of her. Clint told them that if she was watching her in the first place, it would have never happened. You can't just turn 5 and 4 year olds loose in a strange town with strangers, even at a chruch function….and NOT WATCH THEM! Just because you go to church DOES NOT make you a good person. Plenty of PSYCHO's go to church!!
I'll get back on tomorrow, and let yall know what the doctor said. Needless to say, they will NOT be going ANYWHERE with them EVER AGAIN!

NEW CAR Boo-Boo
Yesterday, at 4 o'clock, Rosie, the other girl I work with was getting off work, so I was going to run into to town to the bank, then go get me a soda…..she asked if she could ride with me. So I let her. Some guys from the shop were in front of us, they had just got off too. They were turning right at the stop sign, and were cocked to the side, and I was going to go straight around them. I am NOT used to my new gas pedal, or break for that matter, because in my old xterra, you had to have the pedal to the floor almost for it go any where. So I am turning my wheel with my foot about to slowly tap the gas to get around him, and I hit the gas to hard, before my wheel was fully turned, and my truck lunged forward! I have a girl in my passenger side who is about to deliver in less than 23 days, and I just got her into a fu<king wreck! I feel like SHlT! Not to mention this is in the car I have had for 2 weeks! So The truck in front pulls forward, and he just has a busted tail light. Wow! Then my truck can't be that bad, right??? Well, I get out to go look, and no that is NOT the case! I hit his driverside tail light RIGHT on my Passenger side blinker. The fender is pushed back, so the passenger side door wouldn't open, and one of the guys was going to tell Rosie to climb out the driver side, I said "No", and I yanked the door open, messing it up at the panel nearest the fender. I made her get out, and sit on the grass while I called the cops and told them to send an emt to check her over. After the cops got there, I finished looking at my car. The grill is cracked in one place, otherwise would be perfect, the hood is crunched right above the blinker, it will need to be replaced as weel as the bumper and light. I will upload a pic when I can. I still had the freaking dealer tags on it! Oh well, I feel no sentiment twards this car as some people might, I am just so freakin worried about Rosie. He stomach was hurting where her seatbelt tightened below her belly. I got my cell to call Clint, while they were checking Rosie's blood pressure in the ambulance. The bastard hung up on me! So I am seething right now, I was only mad at myself for getting into a wreck with a pregnant woman in my car, but now I am mad at a di<khead, who NEVER asked if either one of us was ok! That freakin truck can be replaced, Rosie, "Trey" the baby, and I CANNOT! So now all kinds of words are coming to my mouth when I see him pull up……….he gets out of his truck, and walks straight to the damaged side of the car, looks at it, then walks off to his truck. NOW I AM READY TO RIP HIS FUKKING HEAD OFF! We get everything cleared up, the cop says "Well this is a hell of a way to meet the new city employee.." trying to make me smile, didn't work. He said we could go, and didn't give me a ticket. So I turned around and drove the 2 blocks to the office, got Rosie out, made her put her feet up, and get an apointment with her doctor. She called me last night to tell me everything was fine. Thank GOD! I had been pacing circles in my floor!
I will rave about Clint later, when I have enought time to sit and do so!

Funny Things to Do in a Hospital…
1. Start singing the Bon Jovi song "Bad Medicine" at the top of you lungs!
2. Loudly say "You put the cucumber where?"
3. If in the ER and seprated by those fabric curtains ask your wife if she's in the mood for the world to hear. (I actually did this, the wife was not happy, the people in the next bed thought it was funny).
4. Put the paper gown on backwards!
5. If someone in the lobby asks why you're there tell em you have the bubonic plague.
6. Scream "Holy **** thats the biggest needle I've ever seen!"
7. Dr: Hi, I'm Dr. Smith. You: Are you sure?
8. Skip the paper gown altogether, go all natural, its not like they haven't seen it all anyway!
9. Ask the Dr. if he knows where his hands have been!

Why are we here with as many doctors as we have?
Of course, I KNOW the answer, beause BLACKS in this country ALWAYS gets the short end of the stick! However, as DISGUSTING that this story is, I am sure SOMEONE here will blame Bush for this, regardless of the FACT that these numbers they are speaking of have DROPPED CONSIDERABLY since 1960 and are at their LOWEST!!! That said, however; the US should NOT be where it is on this list!!!!

Call Center Peeves
This has been posted before but I NEED to vent…I can't stand people who will not listen!
At work we clearly identify ourself when pick up a call "Dr Smith's office how may I help you?" The customer replies: "Is this Dr. Smith's Ofc" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH thats what I just said.
We have a recording letting people know our business hours and yet people will still call to ask our hours!
We'll let a customer know Mike is gone for the day yet a customer will still ask if they can speak to him! Grrrrrrrrr.
People will often call in after hours for medication, the office policy is that only rx's that our major emergencies (ie. insulin or heart medications) can be called out. We explain this over and over and they still don't get it or they'll try to convince us that Vicodin is an emergency RX. DR's won't do afterhours pain pills for insurance liability reasons.
I wanna kill the ones that will call every five minutes to talk to the Dr's. Aghh, I would love to tell these people that the world doesn't revolve around thier own bulbous ass.
I especially hate nurses that will talk down to me or the rest of the staff. They act as though they're better than we are! Well guess what Nasty Francine, you're ONLY a nurse so stick your attitude up your rear end and disappear!
I hate when women calls me honey, baby, sweetheart, or some other term of affection! If I called them by any of those terms they would demand my nuts in a jar!
Ok thats about it, people are irratating the hell outta me today! I feel a little better.

INSURANCE CO.
Ok, When my daughter Reese was born 3 years ago, the insurance put her on the policy as soon as they got the info from the hospital for her. So I assumed (bad choice on my part) that this would occur again for Addison….. WRONG-O! I just got a bill today from her pediactric doctor explaining how I owe them over $350 for a routine doctor visit for her and her 2 month shots……. Why would the same insurance company do one thing for one child, and not for the other as far as births go?? So I got on-line, got into my husbands policy and it says that I was supposed to add her with-in 31 days of her birth (like I didn’t have enough going on at the time). And now since I didn’t know they didn’t add her untill now, it is past the 31 day mark (almost 3 months on the 1st!) and I will have to wait until the open season (January) to add her onto our Policy. WTF!!!???
So it all boils down to I have a 2 1/2 month old, that has NO FREGGIN INSURANCE! All because they changed things and didn’t let anyone know. Bastards! At least the local clinic will give her shots for $5 a visit…so I am WAY better off there anyway.
Blue Cross/Blue Shield is REALLY starting to tweak my nu-nu’s……….Â

My not so (SMART) little brother
ok, remember how we talked about animals that can sence strokes and such? Anyone ever heard of an animal that can sence sezures(sp)? I need one…. My brother who is about to be a SR. in HS can not for the life of him remember to take his pills……and like a dumb ass..EVERY time he misses a dose he has a sezure the next day!!(he takes his pills at 10 pm) NEVER FAILS! So his best friend has never seen my bro have a sezure, but he knows about them. I get a frantic phone call today (my bro’s buddy) wanting to know what to do. HE WAS HAVING ONE RIGHT THEN! He said he called 911, because he didn’t know what to do, and I told him to make sure he didn’t hurt himself, and(so that he wouldn’t swallow his tounge) get a wooden spoon. Needless to say my brother got put in the hosp….I am not totally sure why, but they kept him for about 6 hours. But now his dumbass is at home, safe and sound….got a VERY pissed off call from both of his sisters, and I know mom and dad chewed his ass out. So hopefully he won’t forget his meds again! And his Dr. was talking about taking him off the pills…dumbass!

Not bringing anything to the table financially…
I have always been the type of person who HAS to work. I have always had a job, and feel useless if I don’t. Well, since quiting the post office in January, I have started to feel like I am not doing anything for my family financially, and this feeling sucks. Yeah, I cook, clean, watch the kids, blah blah blah, but I don’t make any money! I guess I am fortunate enough to not have to work, but even if I worked outside of the house, I would be needing to pull in some mad cash to cover the babysitting. My oldest is 4 with a dec. b-day, so she can’t start school untill next year, so I would have to have all three in day care for a year….EXPENSIVE!
Anyway, I have been researching different things to do from home, and half of them seem to be a scam….makes you wonder…but I think I finally found something to do, that I can do from home. Medical Transcriptionist. I have done research after google searches and finally it boiled down to 2 on-line schools… I have picked one out, figured the cost, and it only takes a year to complete. MT’s make anywhere from $24K for part tiome and itgoes up from there. And I can sit at home on my computer and do this, with my kids there, so it sounds pretty good.
Has anyone done this, or know anyone who has? My friend has, but she went to a school in Austin, and I won’t be able to find a babysitter to go to school with Hubby working shift work. Last time I tried school, I had to drop out with less than a month left in the semester, cause I had no sitter. That is why the on-line courses sound good. I want to get another person’s opinion on this……Â

My best “friend”
I have had 3 kids, and I haven’t seen her by my hospital bed once, but that is fine I know people have lives. She hasn’t come to see me afterword either, but she was living the single life, so I understand. She knows I have 3 kids and my stepson is down, so I don’t have a moment to myself. She had her first baby on Friday, and I was on vacation with my family. She is pissed at me and won’t answer the phone when I call and check on her and the baby. She talked to me Friday when I called to congratulate her, but after I told her I couldn’t find a babysitter for the other kids so I could come see her, she got upset and hasn’t answered the phone since. I have to call her MOM to get an update! Some friend she has really turning out ot be. She is 3 years younger than me and I have looked out for her since high school after her brother got killed, so she is more of a little sister than anything………but DAMN she can piss me off!

Health Care
The fact of the matter is that there are millions of people in this country who have no form of health care coverage at all. Employers are increasingly eliminating health insurance or heavily reducing it, leaving employees with no recourse. The price of health care is enough to send most people into major debt, some medical tests can now cost thousands of dollars to run. We send millions of dollars overseas to help other countries but can’t find a viable way to provide affordable health care for our own citizens? Insanity.
If you don’t think healthcare is a serious issue in this country, lets take a look at Diabetes. There are an estimated 30 million people in this country known to have Diabetes, many of them uninsured. Diabetics have a high risk of heart disease, kidney disease, and limb amputation; medical intervention can eliminate or reduce chances of diseases developing. We would save millions of lives and billions of dollars by having affordable health care for these people to make sure that they get the proper care to make sure they never have to lose a limb. Do you know how much a wheel chair or an artifical arm costs?  When these people can no longer support themselves guess what going to happen? They’ll be put on SSI and Medicade which will cost us alot more later then it would to provide basic care now. Thats just Diabetes, I’m not even factoring in AIDS, cancer, the aging baby boomers, etc..

Sounding Board, please help!
Many of you know my mother had a stroke in early June. After almost a month in two different hospitals, we had to make the very difficult decision to put her in a nursing home. I have full power of attorney, but here’s the problem. Today is the second full day Mom has been in the home, so I asked her nurse for a copy of all of the medicines that Mom is now getting (she had some that were dc’d, but the doctor has ordered for her to resume all medications that she was getting in the hospital upon her discharge.) The hospital that she was most recently in made a mistake when keying in her medicines from the hospital here, so the nurses were giving Mom 3x the amount of one of her medicines that she was supposed to get. I pointed out the error to them, and they corrected the dosage to 20mg at bedtime. However, when the transfer was made from the last hospital to the nursing home, guess what? That’s right…the records still showed her getting 60mg of this medicine, so the home is doing the same thing.
I just have come back from visiting and attempting to feed my mother her meal, but she is so “stoned” she can barely open her eyes, much less eat. I finally gave up trying to coax her into eating, and when she fell asleep I left for the evening. So I get home and begin to look over the copy of the medicines that the nurse gave me (this is when I notice that the 20mg has turned into 60mg AGAIN), and realize that her stupor is due to this drastic dose of medication. Not only is she getting 3x the amount she was taking at home and in our local hospital, the nursing home gave it to her at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. The last time I had a medicine prescribed that was to be taken 3 times a day, it was supposed to be taken every 8 hours, not every 4 hours. For a person who is 76 and who has been through so much physically this past month, 60mg of a medication for depression is too much.
So, I called the home and asked the nurse to dc (discontinue) the first two doses and make a note to only give the Celexa at bedtime, and she said she can only do that if the doctor orders it, or if the patient requests it. She says my mom can talk, so she will have to tell them tomorrow that she doesn’t want it except at bedtime. I AM ABOUT TO BLOW MY TOP! My POA, according to the nurse, is ineffective since my mother can speak. Yeah, she can speak. The problem is, she doesn’t know what she’s saying! She thinks I’m her youngest sister, for pete’s sake!Â
Anyway, I politely but firmly told the nurse that I would be back again in the morning, and that I would check on this again, and that I hope to find the records corrected to 20mg at bedtime only. I also told her that if I needed to take care of this myself, I would. But I also told her that come Tuesday, when the Medical Director makes her rounds, my mother better not still be getting 3x the dosage she’s supposed to receive.Â
And unless they want to hear from my lawyer, they had better gain a clearer understanding of the content of my POA.
Okay…I’m really not hard to get along with, but this is my mother. She can no longer speak for herself, and if I don’t keep a watchful eye out for her, she will become a statistic just like so many other nursing home residents who go day to day in a barely conscious state because they have no one to care about whether they are being over or under medicated.

Woman dies in ER lobby as 911 refuses to help!
LOS ANGELES - A woman who lay bleeding on the emergency room floor of a troubled inner-city hospital died after 911 dispatchers refused to contact paramedics or an ambulance to take her to another facility, newly released tapes of the emergency calls reveal.
Edith Isabel Rodriguez, 43, died of a perforated bowel on May 9 at Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Hospital. Her death was ruled accidental by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Relatives said Rodriguez was bleeding from the mouth and writhing in pain for 45 minutes while she was at a hospital waiting area. Experts have said she could have survived had she been treated early enough.
This is only half the story on MSN.com
She had a perforated bowel and was bleeding/vomiting blood. The boyfriend called first and he had no luck. Then another bystander called and was also shunned by 911! They asked the police there for help. She died as the police were wheeling her out the hosp on a PAROLE VIOLATION!!!
