Another Dumb Study on OUR Dime.
htt p://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/whyaremamaanddadaababysfirstwords
Is this so hard to figure out? I mean come on! I don't have a doctorate but here's my simple take: babies say ma-ma and da-da first because they are the easiest words to say.
Where do these people get their degrees out of Craker Jack boxes? Whats even worse is that someone is guliable enough to have given money for this study. God must have wore out the stupid stick with with this bunch.
The Millions of dollars that were spent on this crap could have went for Cancer, AIDS, or even Diabetes research.

Lowering the Drinking Age
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ id/26320912/?GT1=43001
What are you thoughts on this subject?
I think it should be lowered. An 18 year old brain is old enough to be sent to Iraq but not good enough to enjoy a beer? If you ask me if anyone deserves a beer is our military men and women irregardless of age!
I don't buy the whole brain development thing, If I'm not mistaken our brains can continue to develope well into our mid to late 20's. I will also argue its more a maturity thing, I know of 16 year olds that can handle booze better than a 30 year old.
Lets be honest here an underage kid can easily get beer or liqour. They steal it from YOUR stash or get someone else to buy it. Prohibition has never worked and never will, instead of making spirits illegal lets educate our teens about the risks of alcohol abuse.
I respect all the wonderful work MADD has done but they're way off base here.

SJS! ANOTHER something for the lawyers to sue about!?!?!?!
I am truly not saying people that are not affected by this horrid disease
(which disease ISN'T 'horrid'
), but to 'push' people to going to a lawyer to
'have your case examined' which is, I believe, lawyerese for, 'If WE
can't make big bucks from your case, you don't HAVE a case!'
BTW, this is what SJS is - Stevens-Johnson Syndrome is a potentially deadly skin disease that usually results from a drug reaction. Another form of the disease is called Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis, and again this usually results from a drug-related reaction. Drugs that have been linked to Stevens-Johnson Syndrome include NSAIDS (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs), Allopurinol, Phenytoin, Carbamazepine, barbiturates, anticonvulsants, and sulfa antibiotics. In some cases, the condition is caused by a bacterial infection, and in many cases there is no known cause for the onset of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome or Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis.

food for thought…
I don't know if any of you have already seen this but it really makes you look a little differently at all the things we complain about!
I AM THANKFUL:

BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME,
AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE
ELSE.
FOR THE HUSBAND
WHO IS ON THE SOFA
BEING A

BECAUSE HE IS HOME WITH ME
AND NOT OUT AT THE

FOR THE TEENAGER
WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING
DISHES
BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME,
NOT ON THE
STREETS.
FOR THE TAXES I PAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM
EMPLOYED .
FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY
BECAUSE IT
MEANS I HAVE
BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.
FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT.
FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK
BECAUSE IT
MEANS
I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE
FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING,
WINDOWS THAT NEED

AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING
I HEAR ABOUT THE
GOVERNMENT
BECAUSE IT MEANS
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH. .
FOR THE PARKING SPOT
I FIND AT THE FAR END OF
THE PARKING LOT
BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING
AND I HAVE

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL
BECAUSE IT MEANS
I AM WARM.
FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH
WHO SINGS OFF

I CAN HEAR.
FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING
BECAUSE IT
MEANS
I HAVE CLOTHES TO WEAR.
FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES
AT THE END OF
THE DAY
BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN

BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM ALIVE.
AND FINALLY, FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL
BECAUSE IT
MEANS I HAVE

Another Twit That Will Sue….
So this woman, by her OWN choice, goes against the recommended time then has the "balls" to complain?
First off anytime you tan there is a risk that you could burn, which is why the tanner had her stupid arse sign a release.
Secondly, she is a grown adult capable of making her own decisions. I think its high time that people should be forced to accpet the consequences of their actions. Common sense should have prevailed, but alas common sense has gone the way of the Do Do Bird.
Lastly, Why would anyone pay for a tanner in JULY? She should have hauled her fat rolls outside in this heatwave we're having and tanned the natural way.
I just don't get the whole tanning bed thing. People will pay for a tan when they can go to the beach and have some fun for free. I'd not use one of these beds due to the skin cancer rate, no matter how pale my skin became. I guess I'm just not vain enough.

People with Allergies
I am so sick of people with allergies expecting everyone to have to adpat to thier sensitivities! Our new neighbors have just informed us by letter that they have allergies to smoke. In this letter they DEMAND that no one burn anything at all in the neighbor hood! Why don't these brain dead idiots check into these things before they buy a house? First off we live in a township where burning leaves and other yard waste is perfectly legal as are small backyard firepits. We moved out to the township so we could use our firepit, who in the heck do these paragons of rudness think they are? Mr. Neighbor, stay in your house for all I care, we're using our firepit and burning our leaves in the fall! If you don't like it then move back to the city! Boo Hoo F'ing whooo!

Ok this would suck
Some say it’s good luck if a bird’s droppings hit you, but not if the bird is an airplane and the dropping is frozen human waste that crashes through your roof.
Marian Liknes was sitting in her Calgary, Canada, bedroom in the middle of a phone conversation when chunks of ice consisting of toilet water, antifreeze, disinfectant and human waste tore through her roof and landed on her bed in a pile of shingles, plywood, drywall and insulation, CBC News reported on Thursday.
The crash, which she said sounded like an explosion, left a foot-wide hole in the roof.
John Lee, a Transportation Safety Board manager, confirmed the waste came from an airplane lavatory and said that the release may have been caused by warm air triggering melting.
He said the plane would be tracked down to avoid future mishaps. "This is a one-in-a-million chance of something like this happening."

Work Out Pet Peeves
The gym I work out at provides towels for members, they also provide laundry baskets for members to use when they're done working out. The problem is that people leave them laying on the locker room benches, on the floor, hanging off the lockers, or on shower floors. I'm not a germophob, but I don't wanna have to move someone's nasty towel! How hard is it to drop the damn towel in the bin after your done with it? I also hate when someone uses equipment then doesn't clean the machine after use, there are like 100 spray bottles all over the place!
This gym also provides private showers, I hate when some member is trying to talk to me while I am in shower. LEAVE ME ALONE I'M A LITTLE BUSY RIGHT NOW!
If you have kids please, join a gym that has daycare, you can leave them there while you work out. Having kids running around the joint while you have 200lbs benched over your head is a little distracting. Unless they're working out too keep the kids at home, PLEASE!
Finally, I know people wanna smell nice when they work out, but go light on perfume! I ran the treadmill yesterday next to this woman had so much perfume on that it was choking me.

Day #6
I have smoked since I was 15, I am now almost 26 in a few days. I have quit before when I found out I was pregnant, but always started back up. I know for those of you that do not smoke, you would not understand, but I enjoyed them…very much. I never smoked in my car with the kids, or never in my house, but I LOVED going outside to take 5 min. out of my time to sit and relax……and smoke! Well, I have been "sober" (I just wanted to use the word) for 6 days now. I was sick, so it has been fairly easy to put them down. And only today on our way back from shopping, I looked at Clint, and told him I was actually craving a cigarette. Do you kow what pissed me off? He didn't even realize that I haven't smoked in almost a week! How can you NOT notice that I don't smell of smoke all the time? Don't get me wrong he pays ALOT of attention to me, but really, you didn't notice? So we get home, and he has stated that he is going to town to get some scoal…he dips, so he drops me off to hide presents, and he is going to town. Not a minute later he is back…basically he went around the block and decided if I can stop smoking, he can quit dipping. An hour later he made it all the way into town before he turned around. 30 min. after that, he quit talking himself out of it and bought a can! I have better will power, but I notice that I want to smoke when I get bored.
I told my mom when I am ready to give them up, I will. I wasn't ready, but Kaylie told me that the tv says that smoking kills people, and she doesn't want me to die….. that did the trick, I didn't want my baby to worry. Funny how kids can get to you.
But my real test will be tomorrow. I have 2 family christmases, and ALOT of people at both smoke like freight trains…….I have to have will-power!

Honey
Do any of you guys use honey to help cough/congestion. I was reading on the internet this morning that it works better than the OTC stuff for coughs and my 5yr old has a cough now and I have been switching between Robitussin and childrens' Mucinex for the cough but it's not working too well. If you use honey, how do you use it for a child, i.e. do you mix it with something or give it straight from a spoon?

Peoples obsession with bacteria & germs
Not too long ago I saw a mother, although well intentioned, forbid her child to enter the water, even though the E.coli levels were in a descent range. I didn’t think much of it, but just a few days ago, a friend flipped out when a housefly landed on him, stating that it carried with it more than a million bacteria. Rather than trying to explain to a monkey (sorry buddy, but I never really liked you to begin with), how things really work, I decided to dedicate this rant to it.
I used to know a bit about bacteria, as with many useless subjects a writer sometimes finds himself immersed in.
Despite Lysols claim, not all bacteria are toxic, pathogenic and caustic. As with all things, some are good and some are Christians… I mean evil… I mean bad. Now if you throw ca-ca at your friend in a friendly poo-poo fight (don’t ask), that’s bad E.coli.
A fetus is born completely sterile. But immediately acquires all kinds of bacteria, which then live symbiotically with the child until its death. They help it produce vitamins, break down some garbage, and even maintain the atmosphere it needs. Now here comes the biggest misconception. These good bacteria are only found in places in our bodies directly exposed to the environment, like our intestines and respiratory tracts. Ever noticed how animals who are born and raised "germ free", must be kept in a sterile environment, and need lots of vitamin supplements to stay alive. This is because they develop thin intestinal walls, weak hearts and a bad attitude.
Bacteria are old school, being single celled. Were talking billions of years old, sorry creationists, and yes I know this is all the Devil’s trickery. They are responsible for shaping and even maintaining atmospheric oxygen that allows complex life to develop.
Soon, some of them took up residence in other cells, which allowed life to evolve into more complex forms. So they aren’t just part of what you are, but they literally are what you are. You think you own your body, think again. You’re merely renting a small room, and the landlord will evict your sorry ignorant butt if you don’t maintain the place properly.
Ever hear of photosynthesis. Or what about that water bacteria also produces much of the oxygen we breathe. Bacteria are why things decay and finally become nutrients. It promotes faster and healthier growth in a child, who just happen to have more immunity to bad bacteria than all of us to begin with. It even reduces all noxious odors like your most people’s stinky opinions on the matter.
And now onto the famous, dreaded, fundamentalistic (sorry, wrong rant) E.coli.
E. coli within our intestines is necessary for us to develop and operate properly and to remain healthy. It, as well as similar bacteria, makes vitamins so that we can absorb them. And are pretty much responsible for our source of Vitamin K and B-complex.
Take it from a guy who frequently swims at the beach, and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. And must admit, enjoy raw meat, being fish or beef, and not that wimpy little sticky rice sushi either. Now get this. I have never been sick! And have never once felt sleepy in the afternoon, except when in school.
Ever notice how unsanitary Chinatown food markets or restaurants can be? Canadians can get poisoned just walking down Somerset, or watching a subtitled movie. So why don’t they get sick from their 2-day exposed chickens? Well it’s because they’re super evolved androids from outer space bent on turning the world into mahjong pieces.
I once saw a 4-year-old Eskimo boy, eat a huge piece of frozen seal during a hunt. Now ask a physician or a nutritionist about that and watch them squirm.
Don’t depend on those in power to dictate what is good or bad. News flash: they’re just as susceptible to wrong opinions as everyone else. Even a physician’s whole basis for being is due to his education, and I think we all know how easily corrupted education can be. Want an example on that, just examine your opinion formulated from what you learned in history class or see in movies. What’s your opinion on the Civil war, Columbus, 911, Pearl harbor, Communism, Thanksgiving, white bread vs. brown bread.
So next time you insist on cooking everything you eat, or carrying around that alcohol that claims to kill 99.9% of all germs and bacteria, consider this.
Still don’t believe me? Try it first, then your opinion will count, and not just something you once read in passing.
With the great advancements in global communications, and the great wealth of knowledge that is the Internet, we can evolve at 100 times the speed, or lose everything because of false opinions and such an easily compromised set of principles. We now hold a greater responsibility than ever before. We are responsible for knowledge itself. Without first developing the skills to fully comprehend and filter this vast expanse of information, the Internet may be the downfall of us yet.

Do you ever wonder why?
Well, for those that might have read my post the other day about blowing off some steam, you will know where I am going with this posting.
Lately I have begun to question things, not just in my life, but just about everything. Not sure if its because I know that I will be another year older on Saturday, 3 November 2007 (which will make me 31) or if its just because I am unsure of myself.
Here is what I have had on my mind and what I have been questioning lately:
- What is our purpose on this planet?
- Why does life always hand out good things to others, while I am stuck with the crappy life?
- Why do some people have it all, and others work hard to get no where and have nothing to prove for what they have worked for?
- What am I doing wrong? (I have a great paying job, but as it was put to me on Monday, I am not part of the team {I am a contracted employee that works for the US Army as a Administrative Assistant}, not only that but I sell Mary Kay {but, so far to date I haven't had any orders!})
- Why can't I be loved? (I know that I am not beautiful like Jessica Biel or any other famous stars, but, I am not obese and I have a great personality and I am smart and can carry on a conversation)
- How can you look at the bright side of things when the things that are bright never happen to you?
- Where can you turn to if you don't have any friends who care enough about you to be there for you when you need them the most?
- When life give you a lemon, how can you turn that into a peach?
- What can I do to get recognized by men without having to give up my standards of the way I carry myself?
- Why does my life completely stink?
- When will the misery end??
Just wish that someone could give me a straight answer. I am at the end of my rope with absolutely no where to turn for assistance or help.

What ever happened to our schools?
The title pretty much says what the rest of this post will say.
My 9 year old daughter had a half day of school last Wednesday, and then Thursday and Friday were Fall Break — which meant no school.
As my 9 year old daughter was riding the bus on the way home Wednesday, she had a girl and the girls older sister sitting behind her on the bus. Needless to say, the grabbed her hair and pulled a large chunk out of her head, told her "that her mom was a fat cow that needed to die, and that she needed to die, and they were willing to help with making sure that {we} died."
My daughter's babysitter called me on my cell phone at work to describe the problem because my daughter was crying and wouldn't talk to her. I asked her to put my daughter on the phone, and my daughter got onto the phone. I asked "what happened?" "why are you crying?" And that is when she told me the above. I told her that I had to go and that I would call her back here in a few minutes.
I called the school and spoke to the principal and vice principal. They both told me "well, because it happened on the bus, we don't have rights to do anything about this!" So, by that time, I was fuming mad! They continued to say, "we can't do anything until after Fall Break is over and we resume school on Monday!" So I called the transportation department for my daughter's school district, explained to them what had happened, and then they proceeded to tell me "Ma'am, I know you are upset, but when it comes down to it, the driver needs to keep her eyes on the road and the assistant just can keep track of 50-60 kids at all times that ride on that particular bus." That set me on fire! I asked if there was any way that my daughter or the girls who caused this problem could be separated on the bus, they reply was "well, we have assigned seating, and we just can't move people every time there is a little scuffle or when parents want to make a mountain out of a molehill". Finally, with no cooperation, I called the police, made a report and tried to calm my 9 year old daughter down in the process.
Needless to say, since last Wednesday my 9 year old daughter has not slept more than 90 minutes a night. Which in turn means that I have not slept more than 90 minutes a night (she will wake me up screaming and saying "no mommy, we can't go to sleep, they will come in here and get me and you and we will die!").
With the way schools are going today with bullies picking on someone and the underdog going back to the school with vengence to do harm, I would think that my 9 year old daughters school would be thinking "we need to think about this, and if it means we have to work on Fall Break, then we need to find a solution to this problem before school resumes on Monday!" Wait a minute, no that is me being reasonable and thinking, on the other hand the school was selfish and thinking "oh we need the break and will take care of this on Monday when we get back, heck it might just blow over and everyone will just completely forget about it!"
What else bothers me the most are the two girls that caused this problem to my daughter, the oldest is 11, and the youngest was 8. So what in the heck are the parents teaching these kids? There parents need to experience the past 6 days of no sleep like I have had to, and then having to fight with my child to explain to her that she needs to go to school, she needs to get an education in order to succeed in this world, and she needs to put on a brave front to have people not see that this is upsetting her, and most of all she needs to smile and be happy.
What do you do when something like this happens? What steps can you take to resolve the issue without the drastics of being sue happy? What can I do in order to get my daughter to rest at ease an sleep for a night, not only because I know she needs the sleep, but for me who is trying to work my 10 1/2 hour days plus try to fight this situation and to get the schools to realize that this needs to be taken care of and not in a laughing matter!?!
Sorry for rambling, and not being correct with my grammar and spelling. With no sleep its hard to type and think straight!!
