A Rave for Christmas!

By: rkinne01 in Television, Entertainment - on November 28th, 2008

I just bought the Jeff Dunham Chirstmas Special, I don't normally like stand up comedy but this guy is great! Jeff is a ventriloquist with several puppets. My favorite was Achmed The Dead Terrorist, its a small skeleton with a long beard and a turbin. His funniest line is "Silence, i kill you!" (It's funny in context)"

Buy it its a real gas!

True Blood

By: WADV in Television, Entertainment - on October 29th, 2008

This show is getting soooo good! I wonder if Sukie and Bill will have little vampire babies. LOL

Anyway, who do you think is going to get 'glamored' or killed next week? I sure didn't like seeing Sukie covered in blood. I think the previews for next week keep getting more and more 'teaser'.

The bartender coming over the bar to attack at the end sure was crazy. I guess he will be in trouble for stealing all that money. When Bill told her Eric summoned them and can anytime, I thought Eric wanted Sukie for himself.

I think I am going to try and get ahold of the books and read them.

Dvd Peeves

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Television, Entertainment - on October 16th, 2008

1. DVD's with Ads or trailers that you can'r forward through.  They are the ones that start right at the beginning, BAH!

2. DVD's that have no closed captioning.

3. DVD's that have odd cases that don't fit into our storage case. WTF is up with that?

4. Companies that put out multiple DVD versions of the same movie. How many bleeding versions of Blade Runner do we need?

Friday the 13th: The Series Season 1 DVD

By: rkinne01 in Television, Entertainment - on October 13th, 2008

Picked this show up on DVD recently and have to say how great it was. I will say this TV series is NOT about Jason Vorhes (sp?) but about 2 cousins who inherit an antique shop from thier evil Uncle Louis. What they don't know is that the antique shop was full of objects that have been cursed by the devil, they only discover this after they've sold off alot of the items. The cousins, along with Uncle Louis' friend Jack, are now determined to get back every cursed object they and Uncle Louis had sold.

This show ran for 3 seasons during the late 80's, the special effects are bit dated but the stories are surprisingly well written. The actors were all unknown but were excellent in thier rescpective roles, they didn't overact and weren't cheesy.

The DVD transfer is about what you'd expect from materials from that time, its lower resolutions that have been cleaned up a bit for DVD.

The audio is, again, what you would expect from the late 80's. It was clear and easy to understand but not outstanding, sounds fine on TV speakers but don't expect much from stereo speakers.

I was disappointed in the lack of special features with only TV Spots available. Here's hoping that if they release season 2 and 3, that they include more special features. I would like to see some commentary, actor interviews, behind the scenes features, etc.

Its a perfect Halloween show!

I CAN’T TAKE IT!!!

By: AKsnowbunnie in Driving / Traffic, Television, In the News, Gossip, Politics/Politicians, Life, Travel, Automobile - on September 11th, 2008

I know I said I wouldn't be back until after Thanksgiving, but I just HAVE to get some **** off my chest!! After this post I'm going to go back to not coming here until then. But this site IS called pet peeves, and BOY OH BOY am I just aggravated.

Right now I'm wishing McCain never picked Palin, because now we have news people EVERYWHERE. Gretta Van Susteren is even up here. I hate that woman, and now she's in my city! Tourist season ended last week, but the number of people in town has NOT gone down as it normally does, all these reporters flew up here and took their place. GO AWAY REPORTERS!! You can report about Palin from the lower 48, you don't have to come up here and clog up my streets! Just yesterday I was driving home and I thought to myself "Damn, nobody knows how to drive, but it's not snowing yet" - and then after that I found out about all these reporters. They're making life HELL in terms of driving around town.

As for Obama, I'm SUPER pissed off at him right now. Why in Gods name did he send 30 "lawyers" (or as normal people would call them, investigators) to Alaska to dig up dirt on her? I don't want these people up here, and the only thing they're doing is pissing off the people that live up here! I have seen more and more people that weren't going to vote for McCain decide to vote for him based on Obama doing the smear campaign. And seriously O-man, GET SOME FACTS!! You see MOST of the people that live up here have personally gotten to know Sarah, have PERSONALLY spent time with her. You can't tell us a lie and think we'll believe it, we PERSONALLY know otherwise!

It's pathetic. I guess it goes to show they really don't have a fight against her though, if they did they'd stop trying to attack her personal life. I guess when you're that good, people have no choice but to make up lies and call you a pig with lipstick (by the way, thanks for giving us up here something to laugh about, we really do love that one!).

I can't wait for this election to be over. I can't wait for these F'ing reporters to go back to the lower 48. I'm going to go piss Gretta off tonight, I'm going to go stand behind the camera guy and everytime she talks I'm going to just yell at her. Nothing rude either, just be loud enough to piss her off. She had on her heavy down winter coat too!! Us locals are still wearing T-shirts out, and she's got on a winter coat!!!

GO HOME REPORTERS!!!! We finally got rid of the tourists, we don't have long until the snow starts to fall, so PLEASE give us our few weeks of easy driving on the roads!! If ya'll don't leave soon, I'm filling my vehicle with drunk natives and paying them to do what it takes to make you leave!!

OK thanks guys!! I'll stop by later before I leave work. But after today I'm done coming here again. I stopped by today to say hi and get that stuff off my chest, and I see it's exactly how I predicted, too much political BS for me to stay around.

Thinks I HATED about Romper Room!!!

By: WalterTH3rd in Television, Entertainment, Life - on September 4th, 2008

Alright, FIRST of all, I don't even know IF Romper Room is even still on (it WAS on when I was a child, MANY years ago!), HOWEVER, there was ALWAYS one part of the show that ALWAYS got my hopes up, the 'Magic Mirror'. Actually, it was a FRAME of a hand-held mirror painted 'magical' colors and such, the hostess of the show would say some incantation about something or other and look through this device and start saying the names of who she could see. She would say stuff like, 'I see Mary and Scott and Penelope and William and . . .' But, in the 5 YEARS I watched that show (I grew out of it. . . eventually) she NEVER said, 'I see Walter'!!! Do you know how many HOURS I spent waiting to hear MY name called? Do you have ANY idea how close I stood next to the TV hoping she could see me? Do you know how many tears of disappointment I shed when my name was NOT called? How many LETTERS I wrote (Don't know that I actually SENT them, but I WROTE them!!! Hey, I sent letters to Santa and just put them on my dresser, THOSE always seemed to get delivered!)?!?!?

Anyway, just thought about that show yesterday (no tears this time, I SWEAR!!!Embarassed) and thought to 'share' with any of you that may have also known this dissappointmentTongue out.

Don’t Take Your Electronics to Canada

By: rkinne01 in People Who Are..., Movies, Television, In the News, Entertainment, Music, Laws, Computer, Mac, PC - on August 6th, 2008

A new law will soon go into affect in Canada designed to curb piracy, a good thing right?  Not so fast!  This law gives customs the right to seize any electronic device that may contain any kind data on it. All a customs officer has to do is have even the slightest inkling that it may contain anything illegal.

I can tell you from living right on the border that dealing with customs on either side of the border can already be a major hassle. If a customs officer takes a disliking to you he can make life difficult for you. They can literally tear your car apart and are not required to put it back together, if they rip up your seats looking for drugs they don't have to fix them. You could also be taken into custody, strip searched, cavity searched, or X-rayed. People have even handcuffed and guns in their faces.

So if you're planning on going to Canada anytime soon you may wanna leave the laptop, I-Pod, or Mixed Cd's/Dvd's at home. The real kicker here is that they can hold the items for as long as they like, even if its proven nothing illegal was found.

I heard about all this on the radio I'll look for a printed article then post it here whan I can.  We go to Canada often but when this law takes effect we'll be going a lot less often.

******update******

Damn I missed some of the radio news, according to that link it is just not Canada, but the USA and other countries too! Well slap me and call me surprised at this one!

does anybody here watch Lingo on GSN?

By: Dawn in Uncategorized, Television, Entertainment - on July 12th, 2008

well I watch it from time to time and I really like it BUT…you knew there was a but coming…answer me this:

WHY DO THEY HAVE TO STIR AROUND THE BALLS BEFORE THEY PICK ONE OUT???  I mean it's in a bowl under the table and they CAN'T see what they are picking, right?  so WHY DO THAT??!!  all they need to do is reach in and grab!  what's the point??  there are 2 red balls in there with the other blue balls that makes them lose a turn if it's pulled and as I was watching it today, I was saying this.  I said that with all that stirring around they're gonna pull a red ball and BAM just when I said that, she pulled a red ball!!!  if you're gonna get a red ball, you're gonna get one anyway, so stirring it around won't change anything!  LOL!

Repeats of talk shows

By: WalterTH3rd in Television, Entertainment - on July 11th, 2008

Now I 'understand' a networks 'need' to show repeats, the hosts have a life outside of the show, maybe the writers needed a day or a week off. I get it, whatever's clever as we used to say in the days of yore!

But, I believe whomever is in charge of the scheduling of said repeats, should actually LOOK at what they are putting up! For instance, the Letterman Show should not, as a repeat, show the MOTHER'S DAY SHOW!!! Gonna see right through that pretty quick (like when the top ten had to do with mom's day) or, when they repeat a show that first aired within the last FOUR DAYS!!! Who the HECK are they kidding? I realize not everybody stays up to watch Craig Ferguson, but had I only stayed up twice to watch his show last week, I could have thought I was going crazy as I would have seen the same show on two DIFFERENT days! Furious

Attention scheduling producers, it ISN'T that hard!!!! If the tape is titled, for instance (i don't know how they mark them) 'Show number 07/03-08' then you probably do NOT want to tun THAT show for until at LEAST '11/17/11'!!! It isn't like there aren't enough shows to run, quit being lazy you overpaid Hollywood types (alright, that was low, you probably don't get paid like the 'Talent' and you probably don't even have catering table access. I will try to remember that next time you repeat a show that just ran within the last month!!!! Annoyed

Drew Carey orders 45 pizzas shipped cross-country

Thu Jun 26, 5:07 AM ET

PARMA, Ohio - Drew Carey really, really loves the pizza from Antonio's — so he's having UPS deliver dozens of the pies from Ohio all the way to Los Angeles.

The Cleveland native often stops at the Parma pizzeria for a pepperoni slice when he visits town. But this time he placed a tall order — 45 pizza pies — to celebrate Saturday's season finale of his CBS game show, "The Price is Right."

The pizzeria's owners say the order will cost Carey $450. That doesn't include the steep price of delivering the pizzas thousands of miles away.

If THIS was my child….

By: MNolen in Television, In the News, Parenting, Children, Stupid - on April 8th, 2008

If these were my children, I WOULD NOT stand behind them, trying to say this was blown out of proportion!

6 girls beat the SHIT out of another girl, for the sole purpose of posting th evideo on youtube! The 6 attackers lured the girl over to their house, one of those girls was letting her stay there for spring break. They beat her up, slammed her head into the wall which knocked her unconscience. They put her on the couch , and pulled out the camcorder to tape beating her. When she came to, they took turns beating her, while 2 guys stood outside to be look-outs. When they were done, they forced her to get into a car and drove her to another location, where they let her go, telling her that if she went to the cops, they would beat her worse. She went to a friends house, called the cops, and was taken to the hospital, where she had eye injuries, a concussion, and brusies. The 6 girls, and 2 guys were arrested for Felony assault battery, false imprisionment, and the 3 that put her into the car were also charged with felony kidnapping.

Well, this morning, the mother that owns the house, was on Good Morning America, saying that it was blown out of proportion. WTF? How, as a parent, when you have evidence, can you stand behind your child?? I would NOT be on the news saying, "my child is innocent, it is not as bad as it sounds!" OH, NO! If my kids are bad ass enough to get into a fight, they are bad ass enough to pay the consequences! I would be telling my girls, that is what you get for your stupidity, I would NOT pay for a lawyer, or offer her any help….She would get what she deserves. BUT, if they got into a fight, and she was defending herself…I would stand up for her. There is a right way, and a wrong way….I know kids will ****-up, but SHIT!

I can not believe how stupid some kids are, to think they could get away with something like that! I would BEAT my kids if they pulled some stupid **** like that!

If you want to see the footage, go to wftv.com  Scroll down the the second story, and you can read the news footage, AND see the tape that the kids shot. This just pisses me off.

I’m Ticked Off

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Television, Gay, Entertainment, Music, Politics/Politicians, Left, Right, War in Iraq, Terrorism, Politicians, Laws, Life, Commercials - on March 11th, 2008

We need to get our Priorities Straight…..

Millions of families are losing their homes but instead of giving them a helping hand we're building homes for someone in a country that doesn't even like us.

Soldiers are coming home from the wars injured and yet we can't provide them adequte care. Is it any wonder that recruiters are not filling their enlistment qoutas?

We tell our gay citizens that they can't marry because marriage is sacred, all the while the divorce rate is 50%. Sacred indeed! Call me what you will, but if marriage is so scared how come so many are so quick to divorce? Apparently 50% of the population must have a different understanding of the word sacred than I do.

We've got terrorists whining that we're violating their civil rights but then behead someone on live TV. STOP BEING A TERRORIST AND MAYBE YOU WOULDN'T BE TORTURED! Oh and by the way you're not American citizens, you don't deserve the rights our forefathers fought so hard to bring us! Do us a favor, take that machette you use to behead others, place the sharp edge along your throat, and fall! Your 40 virgins are waiting for you, and they're honry!

This to those who think that the terrorists should have rights, tell it to the Pearl family or to any other family who's loved ones were butchered by these freaks. Just think someday it could be your baby girl on TV minus her head.

We're giving illegal immigrants access to Social Security without them having put one red cent into it, but someone who has paid into it is rejected? I wish I could opt out and invest the money for myself, but I'm sure the government would find a way to punish us for it…..wait they already do with taxes.

Why can't we make these jerk offs in Washington pass a bill saying they can't hide one bill in another? Example: You can't sneak in a proposal for a bridge to nowhere with a bill about highway improvement. Enough of the back door politics.

To consevatives, liberals, republicans, and democarts: Stay the hell outta my home and business! I can decide my own my morals, I don't want a group of people who aren't morally correct themselves telling me what to do. My regards to whatever hooker you've picked up for tonight Mr. Congressman, enjoy!

I'm tired of you lazy parents who think it should be the job of the government to censor whatever it is you don't like on TV, on the radio, or on the internet! How about doing it yourself? Turn on the VChip on the TV, take the TV or computer outta their bedroom, and be aware of the ratings on games/movies/DVD's. If you don't want your kids watching shows like Dexter then change the channel to the Disney channel. Don't like Howard Stern? Turn the radio off! Take few minutes to learn about setting up filters to prevent the kids from surfing porn, its easy. Not everything is meant for childrens eyes, take some responsibility for your kids or tick off the Pope by using birth control.

The exclamation “Oh My G**!”

By: housebuilder in Television - on February 10th, 2008

Those of you that watch ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition should know what I'm talking about (that's where I hear it the most): The family checks out their new house and what's the first exclamation you hear? "Oh My God!" How retarded. "Oh My Gosh!" or "Oh My Goodness!" would be better, but still too close, though I do hear those too. I wonder if they're instructed to react that way by ABC. I sent them a complaint regarding this.

Better exclamations:  Oh Wow!, That's Cool!, Amazing!.

Suggestions welcome.

Why I don't like OMG!: It's old; too many people say it. There's better things to say. It's usually, though not always, a violation of the 3rd Commandment, depends on whether you're actually talking to God (in the right) or just putting it on the airwaves "just because" (totally wrong).

I'd go on, but is enough.
