The last day to buy previously viewed DVDs will be 11/30.

We thought about it and it makes sense for us to focus on our main business -
delivering great movie rentals to you by mail and instantly. We're sorry for the inconvenience
Furious
NETFLIX wont be selling the used DVD's anymore! Man that just SUCKS!!!! Now where am I going to buy the kids the shows they like for so cheap????? I can usually pick the DVD's up for $5.99 there. they are used but so what they work.

Horror movie Cliches

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Entertainment - on October 19th, 2008

1. Victims are in a all out sprint, while the killer is walking at a snails pace, yet some how catches the victim everytime.

2. Female victims are almost always running in skimpy clothing.

3. The Killer is always the ugliest SOB and is never a good looking person.

4. A human is almost always helping or controlling a monster.

5. A man always sacrifices himself to save a woman.

6. The victim that escaped in the first movie is almost always killed in the sequel.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head you got anymore?

Scary Movies

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Entertainment - on October 19th, 2008

What are some of your favorites?

Mine are:

Nightmare on Elm St: Freddy was scary as hell. I honestly think this franchise is better that Friday the 13th, hack -n- slash movies were played out, this series IMO freshened the whole genre. Micheal and Jason were lumbering brutes with no personality, Freddy is far more interesting.

Silence of the Lambs: Hanibal Lecter could talk you into killing yourself, he didn't need to lift a finger.

Pyscho: How many women thought twice about showering in a motel after seeing this?

Frankenstein: No blood and guts here just lots of tension.

Elvira Mistress of the Dark: Cheesy horror/comedy that always makes me laugh.

Dvd Peeves

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Television, Entertainment - on October 16th, 2008

1. DVD's with Ads or trailers that you can'r forward through.  They are the ones that start right at the beginning, BAH!

2. DVD's that have no closed captioning.

3. DVD's that have odd cases that don't fit into our storage case. WTF is up with that?

4. Companies that put out multiple DVD versions of the same movie. How many bleeding versions of Blade Runner do we need?

question…

By: Dawn in Shopping, OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, Movies, Entertainment - on October 15th, 2008

does anyone know if those blu-ray dvd players also play regular dvd's or ONLY blu ray dvd's?  QVC's special value today is a blu ray dvd player for about 250.00 which isn't bad considering when they first came out they wanted over $1000.00 for one 2 years ago.

The Video Store….

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Entertainment - on September 21st, 2008

I hate when at a video when there are new releases that people will rent multiple copies of the same video. I suspect that they are watching one whille copying the other, but maybe not. Rent one so someone else can enjoy the movie too, dip stick!

I also hate when someone will take a movie box and hide it so a friend can find it when they come in. For example, they'll hide Eragon behind Star Trek. I caught a lady doing this recently so I took what she hid and rented it myself, I didn't even really want the movie i just did it to irk her.

It also peeves me that people will rearrange the videos on the shelf so everything is out of order. Shut it down Bruno, rearrange your collection at home, leave this one alone!

I am not embrassed to admit we rented an adult video the other night, people looked at us like we were the neighborhood pariahs. You know what MIND YOUR OWN F'ing business, we're adults we will watch whatever we like even if you don't like it. So keep your speech on morality to yourself, when you stop doing the freaky deekie stuff in your bedroom then MAYBE you lecture us. I like to PO the bible thumpers by telling them that: Jesus Loves Porn! Hmmm wouldn't that make a good t-shirt?

Tropic Thunder

By: WalterTH3rd in People Who Are..., Movies, In the News, Hollywood Stars, Entertainment, Stupid, Commercials - on August 14th, 2008

All right, I haven't seen this movie as of yet and, until this morning, hadn't planned to see it. But now, I was just informed that this movie is NOT 'politically correct'!! Well THAT MAKES me want to see this movie for sure now! It isn't like they NEVER let on that there would be some VERY non PC moments in this film! And NOW some are in an uproar about it? GET A LIFE! THIS movie is what it is, and, last I checked, it can say whatever it wants to and, since they have told us upfront, that some people might be offeneded by the content, SHOULD NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!

It probably won't win an Oscar or anything, so what?!?! It is a comedy that is poking fun at Hollywood and the whole PC machine we have seemingly become, I say BRAVO!!!

Maybe I will go see this movie next week, of course, with MY training schedule, I have barely enough time to post HERE!!!Cool

Don’t Take Your Electronics to Canada

By: rkinne01 in People Who Are..., Movies, Television, In the News, Entertainment, Music, Laws, Computer, Mac, PC - on August 6th, 2008

A new law will soon go into affect in Canada designed to curb piracy, a good thing right?  Not so fast!  This law gives customs the right to seize any electronic device that may contain any kind data on it. All a customs officer has to do is have even the slightest inkling that it may contain anything illegal.

I can tell you from living right on the border that dealing with customs on either side of the border can already be a major hassle. If a customs officer takes a disliking to you he can make life difficult for you. They can literally tear your car apart and are not required to put it back together, if they rip up your seats looking for drugs they don't have to fix them. You could also be taken into custody, strip searched, cavity searched, or X-rayed. People have even handcuffed and guns in their faces.

So if you're planning on going to Canada anytime soon you may wanna leave the laptop, I-Pod, or Mixed Cd's/Dvd's at home. The real kicker here is that they can hold the items for as long as they like, even if its proven nothing illegal was found.

I heard about all this on the radio I'll look for a printed article then post it here whan I can.  We go to Canada often but when this law takes effect we'll be going a lot less often.

******update******

Damn I missed some of the radio news, according to that link it is just not Canada, but the USA and other countries too! Well slap me and call me surprised at this one!

with rkinne!!!!  DARK KNIGHT WAS AWWWWSOOOOMMMMEEEE!!!

I think it is the BEST ONE YET!!!  and never mind about people saying it's too long cuz it sure as heck didn't seem that way to me!!  Bale was great and Heath was THE BEST!!  I was so on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happened next!!  just go see it.  David didn't even WANT to go and see it BUT I MADE HIM take me and he really liked it.  WOW!

one thing I realized as the movie was coming on…3 of the main characters of this "american" movie are all foreign, LOL!  Bale, Ledger and Oldman, all from overseas.  OH! and then there's Michael Caine too!  I forgot about him.

The Dark Knight: A Rave and Rant

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Hollywood Stars, Entertainment - on July 18th, 2008

I just got in from seeing this movie. Great movie, awesome story, and Heath Ledger was just sensational. I can't say enough about how great this movie really is! Heather Ledger really does deserve to win best actor for his portrayl of Joker, he smoked Nicholson's version.

I only wish the joker was real so he could have murdered some of the jerks in the audience. The people behind us talked for half the damn movie, the woman in front of us was pulling out her damn cell phone to check the time every 5 minutes, and a guy was yelling at the screen all the time!

Spiderwick Chronicals

By: WADV in Movies, Children - on June 26th, 2008

my kids have been buggin me to watch this movie. I wou ldn't take them when it was in the theater because it didn't look good to me. It looked like another version of Zathura, Jumanji, etc…

OK, so it's out on DVD now. I rented it for them and it scared the hell outta my 8 yr old. The movie was rated PG. I think my 9 yr old got scared because she didn't finish watching it and then said she didn't like it. I didn't get to watch enough of it to say if it was good or not, once the 8 yr old was getting scarred I went in her room to play lincoln logs with her.

I am mad it was rated PG. I don't know what a better one would be, but there wasn't a warning about the violence etc…

I’m Ticked Off

By: rkinne01 in Movies, Television, Gay, Entertainment, Music, Politics/Politicians, Left, Right, War in Iraq, Terrorism, Politicians, Laws, Life, Commercials - on March 11th, 2008

We need to get our Priorities Straight…..

Millions of families are losing their homes but instead of giving them a helping hand we're building homes for someone in a country that doesn't even like us.

Soldiers are coming home from the wars injured and yet we can't provide them adequte care. Is it any wonder that recruiters are not filling their enlistment qoutas?

We tell our gay citizens that they can't marry because marriage is sacred, all the while the divorce rate is 50%. Sacred indeed! Call me what you will, but if marriage is so scared how come so many are so quick to divorce? Apparently 50% of the population must have a different understanding of the word sacred than I do.

We've got terrorists whining that we're violating their civil rights but then behead someone on live TV. STOP BEING A TERRORIST AND MAYBE YOU WOULDN'T BE TORTURED! Oh and by the way you're not American citizens, you don't deserve the rights our forefathers fought so hard to bring us! Do us a favor, take that machette you use to behead others, place the sharp edge along your throat, and fall! Your 40 virgins are waiting for you, and they're honry!

This to those who think that the terrorists should have rights, tell it to the Pearl family or to any other family who's loved ones were butchered by these freaks. Just think someday it could be your baby girl on TV minus her head.

We're giving illegal immigrants access to Social Security without them having put one red cent into it, but someone who has paid into it is rejected? I wish I could opt out and invest the money for myself, but I'm sure the government would find a way to punish us for it…..wait they already do with taxes.

Why can't we make these jerk offs in Washington pass a bill saying they can't hide one bill in another? Example: You can't sneak in a proposal for a bridge to nowhere with a bill about highway improvement. Enough of the back door politics.

To consevatives, liberals, republicans, and democarts: Stay the hell outta my home and business! I can decide my own my morals, I don't want a group of people who aren't morally correct themselves telling me what to do. My regards to whatever hooker you've picked up for tonight Mr. Congressman, enjoy!

I'm tired of you lazy parents who think it should be the job of the government to censor whatever it is you don't like on TV, on the radio, or on the internet! How about doing it yourself? Turn on the VChip on the TV, take the TV or computer outta their bedroom, and be aware of the ratings on games/movies/DVD's. If you don't want your kids watching shows like Dexter then change the channel to the Disney channel. Don't like Howard Stern? Turn the radio off! Take few minutes to learn about setting up filters to prevent the kids from surfing porn, its easy. Not everything is meant for childrens eyes, take some responsibility for your kids or tick off the Pope by using birth control.

We really are living in a sue happy world

By: navybrat76 in People Who Are..., OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, Movies, In the News, Hollywood Stars, Entertainment, Laws, Stupid - on February 12th, 2008

http://news.yahoo .com/s/ap/20080212/ap_en_mo/mel_gibson

This is so sad that everyone now a days has to sue one another.  I agree that if someone performs a service, then payment should be tendered.  There also comes a time, where I think some people take it a little too far.  They may perform a service and then later find out that that service earned a ton more than they anticipated, then they want to go and get a residual payment because they want to make more of a profit than what they were previously paid.

Give me a break people!  Instead of sueing each other for every penny and dime we have, why don't we keep the court rooms open to bring to justice the criminals of the world that are out there committing crimes!

How’s This for Customer Service

By: rkinne01 in Work Peeves, People Who Are..., Movies, Television, Life, Customer Service, Stupid, Rude, Workplace - on February 1st, 2008

I was watching Dr Phil yesterday, he had this woman who did the greatest thing EVER!

This woman, 70 years old, and her husband had called Comcast to get the Triple Play (Tv, Net, and phone), well the service man was supposed to show one day and didn't. She called the service line and complained, the next day the tech did come, after he left they discovered the phone service didn't work.

Being that they had no phone, she and her husband had to go to the local Comcast office to get things worked out. The customer service rep was very rude and ended up making them wait in the lobby for TWO hours, finally the old lady asked when they were going to be helped, she was told the person who needed to help her went home an hour ago!

The woman and her husband left the office PO'ed and vowed to come back the next day till they got what they paid for. The next day before they left for the Comcast the lady paid a visit to the basment to bring a friend along for the trip. They once again arrived to the office and were treated badly, the lady at the window was as rude as she was the day before. Customer service once again "asked" them to wait in the lobby for help, well the old lady wasn't taking that and refused to wait any longer.  The woman waiting on her had the audacity to answer the phone while talking to her, so the old lady took out her friend (a hammer) out of her purse and smashed the phone then every other piece of equipment in the office.  When the tough old bird was done she responded to Comcast by saying "I don't have any service and now you don't either!"

I'm willing to bet that if more of us did this alot of companies would improve customer service in a big F'ing hurry! The moral of the story? Don't mess with a 70 year old woman with a hammer!

Hannah Montana Movie

By: MNolen in Movies, Television, In the News, Hollywood Stars, Music, Children, Motherhood/Moms - on January 29th, 2008

It comes to theaters on Friday to Austin. They already have tickets on sale for $15 a person, for a freggin movie. It is mostly already sold out! This sucks, I couldn't find tickets for the actual concert, and now even the MOVIE is sold out! Are you freakin kiddin me?? I am the proud mother of 2 Hannah Fanatics, and the neighbor of another. I told the mom next door, that if I could get tickets, I would take her daughter with us. Now it seems that I won't be going…..I might just take the trip to see if their are scalpers for that as well! I wouldn't doubt it for a minute!

I know most of you have older kids, but have you heard anything on how long it will be showing?? I would imagine or HOPE that it stays in theaters for a while, since they will no doubt be raking in ALOT of money for the theater….

DAMN! I WANT 5 TICKETS!!!!! My girls would be so excited, and no doubt dressed in their Hannah Montana shirts, skirts, belts, boots, wigs, and hair extentions! Good LORD! Hannah is ruling their life(and my shopping bag)!
