first off, this is a double rant!

first, THE WEATHER!!  my kids didn't have school today because of it.  the wind was kickin ass and takin names!!!  blowing stuff all over, tree branches EVERYWHERE and trying to DRIVE was HORRIBLE!!  not much rain today OR yesterday either, BUT the WIND!  WHEW!!  I went to work but there was no power so we weren't there long, maybe 2 hours.  so after work I decided to TRY and get my disaster relief food stamps.  which leads me to my second rant…

the food stamps!  I got there about 11:30 and got IN the building at 1:30!!!  that's how long the line was, but it kept moving so it wasn't bad and with the wind outside, it cooled us off as we waited.  but that isn't even my problem.  my problem IS all the "foreign" (hispanic) people in the line to get them!!  one dude had a HONDURAS passport!!  I SAW IT!!  HOW the EFF can they be getting LOUISIANA food stamps??!!  once the line moved inside the building, I noticed that there was a separate line for these "foreigners".  I don't know if they got the same amount we got but I do WONDER WHY they even QUALIFY to get them!!??  I was able to get $643 for one month, just a month which is ok for me, for a family of five.

and from the looks at the weather channel, it's some of the outer bands from IKE hitting us now.  But it's not too bad, just really windy, like the rain is coming down sideways almost.  and then it's like a light switch, on and off.  it'll come down real hard for about 10 mins and then STOP, and then start up again.  I feel for those who will REALLY feel it, it WON'T be pretty.  I'm VERY thankful right now.

This is the actual answering machine message for the school. This came about because they implemented a policy requiring students and parents to be responsible for their children's absences and missing homework.

The school and teachers are being sued by parents who want their children's failing grades changed to passing grades - even though those children were absent 15-30 times during the semester and did not complete enough school work to pass their classes.

I was looking for some paperwork this morning and of course as I look around I see old outdated paper to get rid of.  I was also looking for receipts for some of the things that were stolen.  as I'm doing this I came across VERY old paystubs, LOTS of old QVC receipts, old credit reports and other papers with confidential info on them.  so I gather it all together, a big pile of it and decide to have fun shredding.  UGH!!! 

FIRST of all it doesn't even fit a whole piece of paper, I have to tear it in half. 

SECOND, after a few pages of stuff, it clogs up and starts to jam!!! then, I stick my fingers in there to unclog it.  of course it is off so I'm not shredding my fingers. duh… but I really shouldn't wait so long between doing these things so I won't have so much but it's not something that I'm always looking into.

THIRD, it's very small, so I have to empty it so often. and I can't put the top of the shredder directly on top the trash cuz it has a safety switch that only allows it to work ON the small base.  I really want a nice big good one but they can get pricey.

To get the oil companies to realize that we aren't playing around, here is my alternate way of traveling!  And guess what???  Its a very green way to go!  If only more of us went to using this mode of transportation, oil and gas companies would have to lower the prices because they wouldn't be making a profit off of us anymore!!!

well, this is a first for me and whoever it was came thru the back patio french doors. I noticed that they were a little bit open when we got home, but didn't notice anything missing, cuz the tv's and obviously the computer are still here. when I went to my room, all my drawers were open and stuff was on the floor, but I have not noticed any jewelry missing. as a matter of fact I haven't noticed anything missing UNTIL I looked for my digital camera..it's NOWHERE. and my daughter thinks one of her Wii games is missing too. so I called the police and they asked for the address and a callback # and that was an hour ago and I'm still waiting. who knows when they'll get here, maybe tomorrow.

 Well………SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!   Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!  

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.

The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million.  Some friends adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day they got him. Cost them $78 .

The prisoners get the benefit of abo ut $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.

I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing al l the work and harvesting by hand. He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the Prison.

Yup, he was reelected last year with 83% of the vote.

Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.

 He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them.  He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails.  He took away their weights and cut off all but 'G' movies.  He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.  Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get Sued For Discrimination.  He took away c able TV   (Until he found out there was A Federal Court Order that Required Cable TV For Jails)  So he   hooked up the cable TV again and only let in the Disney Channel and the Weather Channel.

When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.

 He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value.  When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton…..If You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back.'

He bought Newt Gingrich's lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails.

 When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place.  

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

UGH!! I had so much planned to do today since the kids slept out last night. I was gonna wash my truck, clean their rooms "my way" without them around, wash clothes and straighten the rest of the house.

I'll try to do as much as I can but it'll be hard. Hopefully I can "work it out" eventually so it won't hurt anymore. I took some Aleve and put Icy Hot on it. Suggestions, anyone…

Ok, I am in some serious pain right now!

I did a yard sale on Friday and Saturday to benefit the Family Readiness Group for the company I am contracted out to.  Well, to no surprise, I didn't have any help with the set up or tear down on Friday, and Saturday I didn't have help with the set up (thankfully after complaining to the right source my First Sergeant and his wife came out to help with the tear down Saturday night).  Well, from having to lift and carry boxes in and out of my house and shed, (and prior to that the entire week I spent carrying the donated sale items from my office to my car and from my car into my house). 

My back is killing me right now!  Its my lower back near my tail bone area.  What can I do?  I spent my mother's day soaking in as hot of water as I can stand (minus the hour while at the store—I couldn't walk fast, so at a snail pace that is how long it took me to get my shopping done) and I have even had my 10 y/o daughter helping me apply ointment (icy hot and aspercreme) to the sore area, and I have even taken ibuprophen (sp?) for the pain.  Still no relief!!!  I am sitting here at work in pain (and sitting hurts me worse than walking around).  What home remedies do you know of that I can use at the office to help ease my pain.  I know its just some sort of strained muscle and nothing dislocated, so any help is greatly appreciated!!

Tips for Handling Telemarketers

Three Little Words That Work !!

(1) The three little words are: "Hold On, Please…"

Saying this, while putting down your phone and walking off (instead of hanging-up immediately) would make each telemarketing call so much more time-consuming that boiler room sales would grind to a halt.

Then when you eventually hear the phone company's "beep-beep-beep" tone, you know it's time to go back and hang up your handset, which has efficiently completed its task.

These three little words will help eliminate telephone soliciting.

(2) Do you ever get those annoying phone calls with no one on the other end?

This is a telemarketing technique where a machine makes phone calls and records the time of day when a person answers the phone.

This technique is used to determine the best time of day for a "real" sales person to call back and get someone at home.

What you can do after answering, if you notice there is no one there, is to immediately star t hitting your # button on the phone, 6 or 7 times, as quickly as possible. This confuses the machine that dialed the call and it kicks your number out of their system. Gosh, what a shame not to have your name in their system any longer !!!

(3) Junk Mail Help:

When you get "ads" enclosed with your phone or utility bill, return these "ads" with your payment. Let the sending companies throw their own junk mail away.

When you get those "pre-approved" letters in the mail for everything from credit cards to 2nd mortgages and similar type junk, do not throw away the return envelope.

Most of these come with postage-paid return envelopes, right? It costs them more than the regular 41 cents postage "IF" and when they receive them back.

It costs them nothing if you throw them away! The postage was 39 cents before the last increase and it is according to the weight. In that case, why not get rid of some of your other junk mail and put it in these cool little, postage-paid return envelopes.

If enough people follow these tips, it will work —- I have been doing this for years, and I get very little junk mail anymore.

Alright walter, you have these dreams too. Have you figured out a way to NOT have them yet? The only way I would take medication was if the only thing the meds did was STOP the dreams. Nothing else can be caused from them.

Maybe there's a reason we have them. Maybe we're supposed to learn something from them for the next time we have it. I don't know about you, but sometimes I'll have the same dream again later on some other night. I can never wake myself up from them, and I can never realize when I'm in it that it is just a dream.  I did look back at the dream last night and found something I can do different that might change the outcome, but I doubt it will. I would bet money that it would only get worse. As if it wasn't bad enough.

I hate Christmas. First off, I'm allergic to Blue Spruce Trees, the perfect Christmas tree. So I get to spend this time of year calling places I want to go and see if they have one. If I don't call, I could end up in the hospital. I get this from my dad - he can be around them though, just not touch them. I can't even be in the same room as them without having a bad reaction. I hate taking Benadryl everyday, so I try to just avoid places that have Blue Spruce. Hard to do this time of year.

I hate Christmas. I lost my brother this time of year. My last memories of him are from the Christmas season. It makes it hard to get through this time of year. Then, of course, I have to work with a SUPER Christmas lover. She is driving me nuts. Everyday it's a Christmas Sweater. And the bell she is wearing is driving me insane. I don't care that she loves this time of year, that's up to each person. I don't, and having to deal with her makes losing my brother that much harder to deal with this year. I would rather sleep through December, and wake up in January.

I hate Christmas music. I can't go to a store without hearing some stupid jingle. I can't surf the stations in my car without hearing some god damn Christmas Song. I had a station on the other day, and out of the blue, just after a good song, they start a Christmas song. They didn't warn me, just started playing it. And these Christmas commericals are WAY too much. They're about as bad as the Smilin' Bob commericals. I would rather see Smilin' Bob then another company trying to sell something for the holiday.

it was HOT over the weekend, like 80 degrees!!!  this weather is CRAZY!!!

Well, for those that might have read my post the other day about blowing off some steam, you will know where I am going with this posting.

Lately I have begun to question things, not just in my life, but just about everything.  Not sure if its because I know that I will be another year older on Saturday, 3 November 2007 (which will make me 31) or if its just because I am unsure of myself.

Here is what I have had on my mind and what I have been questioning lately:

1. What is our purpose on this planet?
2. Why does life always hand out good things to others, while I am stuck with the crappy life?
3. Why do some people have it all, and others work hard to get no where and have nothing to prove for what they have worked for?
4. What am I doing wrong?  (I have a great paying job, but as it was put to me on Monday, I am not part of the team {I am a contracted employee that works for the US Army as a Administrative Assistant}, not only that but I sell Mary Kay {but, so far to date I haven't had any orders!})
5. Why can't I be loved?  (I know that I am not beautiful like Jessica Biel or any other famous stars, but, I am not obese and I have a great personality and I am smart and can carry on a conversation)
6. How can you look at the bright side of things when the things that are bright never happen to you?
7. Where can you turn to if you don't have any friends who care enough about you to be there for you when you need them the most?
8. When life give you a lemon, how can you turn that into a peach?
9. What can I do to get recognized by men without having to give up my standards of the way I carry myself?
10. Why does my life completely stink?
11. When will the misery end??

Just wish that someone could give me a straight answer.  I am at the end of my rope with absolutely no where to turn for assistance or help.

The title pretty much says what the rest of this post will say.

My 9 year old daughter had a half day of school last Wednesday, and then Thursday and Friday were Fall Break — which meant no school.

As my 9 year old daughter was riding the bus on the way home Wednesday, she had a girl and the girls older sister sitting behind her on the bus.  Needless to say, the grabbed her hair and pulled a large chunk out of her head, told her "that her mom was a fat cow that needed to die, and that she needed to die, and they were willing to help with making sure that {we} died."

My daughter's babysitter called me on my cell phone at work to describe the problem because my daughter was crying and wouldn't talk to her.  I asked her to put my daughter on the phone, and my daughter got onto the phone.  I asked "what happened?" "why are you crying?"  And that is when she told me the above.  I told her that I had to go and that I would call her back here in a few minutes.

I called the school and spoke to the principal and vice principal.  They both told me "well, because it happened on the bus, we don't have rights to do anything about this!"  So, by that time, I was fuming mad!  They continued to say, "we can't do anything until after Fall Break is over and we resume school on Monday!"  So I called the transportation department for my daughter's school district, explained to them what had happened, and then they proceeded to tell me "Ma'am, I know you are upset, but when it comes down to it, the driver needs to keep her eyes on the road and the assistant just can keep track of 50-60 kids at all times that ride on that particular bus."  That set me on fire!  I asked if there was any way that my daughter or the girls who caused this problem could be separated on the bus, they reply was "well, we have assigned seating, and we just can't move people every time there is a little scuffle or when  parents want to make a mountain out of a molehill".  Finally, with no cooperation, I called the police, made a report and tried to calm my 9 year old daughter down in the process.

Needless to say, since last Wednesday my 9 year old daughter has not slept more than 90 minutes a night.  Which in turn means that I have not slept more than 90 minutes a night (she will wake me up screaming and saying "no mommy, we can't go to sleep, they will come in here and get me and you and we will die!").

With the way schools are going today with bullies picking on someone and the underdog going back to the school with vengence to do harm, I would think that my 9 year old daughters school would be thinking "we need to think about this, and if it means we have to work on Fall Break, then we need to find a solution to this problem before school resumes on Monday!"  Wait a minute, no that is me being reasonable and thinking, on the other hand the school was selfish and thinking "oh we need the break and will take care of this on Monday when we get back, heck it might just blow over and everyone will just completely forget about it!"

What else bothers me the most are the two girls that caused this problem to my daughter, the oldest is 11, and the youngest was 8.  So what in the heck are the parents teaching these kids?  There parents need to experience the past 6 days of no sleep like I have had to, and then having to fight with my child to explain to her that she needs to go to school, she needs to get an education in order to succeed in this world, and she needs to put on a brave front to have people not see that this is upsetting her, and most of all she needs to smile and be happy. 

What do you do when something like this happens?  What steps can you take to resolve the issue without the drastics of being sue happy?  What can I do in order to get my daughter to rest at ease an sleep for a night, not only because I know she needs the sleep, but for me who is trying to work my 10 1/2 hour days plus try to fight this situation and to get the schools to realize that this needs to be taken care of and not in a laughing matter!?!

Sorry for rambling, and not being correct with my grammar and spelling.  With no sleep its hard to type and think straight!!
