End of the Holidays :( return to work :(

By: WADV in Work Peeves, Life, Vacations - on January 5th, 2009

Annoyed Ok now all the Holidays are over it is time to return to work! CRAP!!!! I was enjoying my time away from work. I think we should all get a week to return to the normalicy of work.

We took the family to: Out of Africa (Camp Verde, AZ),  Flagstaff, and to ride the Polar Express. The kids had a blast. We played in the snow (thank god I dont have to live in it). It was great! Then the wind picked up and it got cold and we had to break out the jackets.

Out of Africa gets better EVERYTIME! The Polar Express was FANTASTIC!!! The kids really love it.

Ok, fun over and we are back at home. It id freaking colder here than playing in the windy snow. GRRRRR!!!! I guess the two week cold snap we get is here. That means I have to break ice every morning for the animals. I want another two days off, I don't want to be at work today!!! Waaaaaaa!!

Ok, my fit is over!

Hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year.  Bye

THE LONG, UPHILL BATTLE: The "mindless" attempts by government and
society to eliminate all dangers in life are threatening personal
freedom, says Tom Mullarkey, chief of the U.K.'s Royal Society for the
  Prevention of Accidents
. "The application of common sense and balance
is much more reasonable than the seeking of mindless increments towards
'absolute safety'," he said, which is "a destination which is neither
feasible nor, in all probability, desirable, since it would come at
such cost to our freedoms." While some areas obviously need regulation,
he says, such as nuclear power and aviation, individuals should merely
be given information on safety and be allowed to make their own
decisions on whether risks are worth taking, so long as they don't put
others in danger. (London Telegraph) …The mindless elimination of all
dangers: malarkey. The new patron saint of common sense: Mullarkey.

Fla. woman drinking on roof asks man for more beer

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – A man called police on Wednesday night after he came home from work and spotted an intoxicated woman drinking a beer on the roof of his home. The 28-year-old woman was taken into custody after she refused to get down and leave. The police report said the woman agreed to leave only if the man agreed to give her more beer.

The woman, who faces a disorderly intoxication charge, has been in trouble before.

A police report shows that she was suspected of stealing money from her sister to buy alcohol in October. And last week an officer who went to her apartment on a disturbance report reported that Smith was intoxicated and wouldn't quiet down.

Man sprays 'toilet-papering' teens with fox urine

WILLMAR, Minn. – A 50-year-old man who told authorities he was fed up with teens toilet-papering his house decided to defend his property — with a squirt gun filled with fox urine. Now, Scott Wagar is in trouble with the law.

Wagar pleaded not guilty on Wednesday in Kandiyohi County District Court to misdemeanor assault and other charges. He was released on personal recognizance.

According to police, Wagar was on his property Sept. 16 when he used night vision goggles to see 15-20 people running toward his place. He told police that he told them to leave, swore at them and sprayed them with the fox urine. He also allegedly struggled with one of the teens.

A phone message left at a home listing for a Scott Wagar was not immediately returned to The Associated Press.

Judge allows civil suit over co-worker's perfume

DETROIT – A federal judge says a Detroit city employee can proceed with a civil suit claiming she couldn't work because of a co-worker's strong perfume.

The Detroit News says U.S. District Judge Lawrence Zatkoff determined Susan McBride has a potential claim under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The city is asking to have the suit dismissed.

McBride says she's severely sensitive to perfumes and other cosmetics. She says the perfume worn by a co-worker in the city's Planning Department made it difficult for her to breathe.

She says the co-worker also used a plugged in room deodorizer.

The suit says the co-worker later agreed to stop using the room deodorizer but kept using perfume.

Black Friday…The Holiday Shopping Nonsense Begins!

By: rkinne01 in People Who Are..., Loud, Bossy, Snobs, Life, Customer Service, Stupid, Rude, Financial - on November 28th, 2008

Why are so many people suckered into this madness? I hate that these stores put out these "great" offers for 4AM, not only that but only have a VERY limited amount of the "great deal". You'll get 200 people lining up the night before in hopes snagging one of 50 Playstations, Stupid.

Is it me or is it getting outrageous that Nintendo Wii and Elmo dolls are short every year? They have the whole year to produce the stupid things yet have a small supply for Christmas? Bull! Its just a marketing tool to make the product seem more hip or cool and inflate prices to maximize profit.

The worst part of this day for me is the people shopping, people in the stores are usually rude, cranky, and pushy. I have seen people in shouting matches and fist fights over the most trival things. People will push, pull, and shove to get what they want.  Parking is a nightmare! The cashiers and other staff in the store are so over worked and look like deer caught in headlights.

No thanks I'll go to the office to work or just stay home.

Ky. inmate who escaped jail returns on own

By: WalterTH3rd in People Who Are..., OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, In the News, Life - on November 19th, 2008

I just wish I KNEW what this guy went through on that fateful day!!!Embarassed

Ky. inmate who escaped jail returns on own

PADUCAH, Ky. – Chad Toy's escape from jail wasn't what shocked his jailers; it was his plea to be let back in. "When I rang the bell at the jail and told them who I was, they were surprised," Toy told The Paducah (Ky.) Sun newspaper. "I guess they haven't seen that before."

Toy, 21, was in the McCracken County Regional Jail in western Kentucky awaiting trial on charges stemming from a July home invasion. He's also serving a four-year sentence for theft.

Officials said he escaped early Monday while on a cleanup detail in the lobby. He bolted after a guard unlocked the front doors to clean trash from a breezeway.

But Toy returned that afternoon, wet and covered with grime. He told authorities his sister had persuaded him to surrender because his family feared for his safety.

Jailer Bill Adams said he doubts Toy's account. He thinks the escapee spent his brief liberty hiding beside the Tennessee River.

Adams said it was the first time in his 14 years as a deputy and jailer that he's seen an escaped convict willingly return.

Toy told the newspaper, "It was a spur of the moment decision. I saw an open door and just ran through it."

He added, "I am sorry about what I did. If I had it to do over again, I would have never run out the door."

A conundrum:

By: WalterTH3rd in In the News, Politics/Politicians, Laws, Life - on November 6th, 2008

Americans always talk about the 'power of voting' and 'The will of the people' when speaking of issues going to a vote, right? Well doesn't this mean IF an issue PASSES.i.e.garners MORE votes, it then becomes LAW? Or does it mean SUE until what the MAJORITY of the people VOTING saysis overturned by  a court?

IF a judge can just IGNORE what the people VOTED for, why even vote? Why not just ask a judge IF he/she could pass any old law he/she wants REGARDLESS of what the people want?

Thoughts, comments?Annoyed

Stupid ARSED drivers

By: WalterTH3rd in Driving / Traffic, People Who Are..., Life, Stupid, Automobile - on November 6th, 2008

So I am driving home a few minutes ago, approaching a side street. They have to stop and wait for traffic to clear, right? Right. This PINHEAD suddenly pulls out into traffic, meaning RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!! He (or she, couldn't tell, long haired hippies!!!) spewing BLACK smoke out of the tail pipe (and it was NOT a diesel) just to (or so I thought) get into the slight gap I had between me and the car in front of me.

Alright, I thought, perhaps there is a line of cars behind me and they don't wanna get stuck waiting. I checked the rear view, nothing! Not just nothing, but STILL nothing a MILE later when this dweeb pulls into the banks driveway! This person not only could have waited, but they could have gotten out of their car and pushed it there was so NO traffic behind me!!!

Update on my newest hires . . .

By: WalterTH3rd in OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, Life, Workplace - on November 3rd, 2008

Alright, I will start with the one that began on fire! He was always quick to ask questions, always willing to help, you know, the 'perfect' employee.

Well THAT lasted about three days, since then he turned into the MOST lazy worker I have EVER seen. He is ALWAYS asking when his break is EVEN AFTER HE HAS ONLY BEEN WORKING FOR AN HOUR!!!

Now, as his manager, I have spoken to him about becoming the person we hired, the person he showed us at the beginning. I am not the only one, the other managers have noticed including the GM. His time is coming soon, VERY soon. I think he only wanted a job so he could get unemployment. That or he wanted to 'escape' his home where his infant and GF are. Who knows? Personally, I don't care, I don't want to hire a replacement for him (I start going through applications today when I get to work), but I am not stupid, he is what he is, therefore, he gets NO MORE ROPE FROM ME!!!

Now the second hire is a 'harder' case; I told you all that he is an recovering alcoholic. Apparently that isn't all, he is also a recovering Dope Head (I believe they call it Heroin or something these days). He lived in a recovery home for addictions of all types. I say 'lived' because he was soo excited to be moving out ('out' meaning across the street)!  I was also happy for him because that meant he crossed some sort of border to becoming a more productive person.

Well he told me yesterday that he is leaving town because he couldn't afford where he was living. He then went on to tell me he spent the night under a tarp in the back of a truck WHILE IT WAS RAINING! He was saying he was homeless! I asked him if his old home would take him back, he said he wouldn't be allowed back for another 60 days because he slipped up and took some DOPE! He said it made him sick (which is what those drugs do) and put him out of his home (another thing those drugs do). He didn't move out 'voluntarily' but was KICKED out for breaking the BIGGEST rule of that place! So, despite my instincts yelling not to, I gave him enough money for a motel stay ($60) so he wouldn't be on the streets AND he would be able to come to work this next week. Realistically I had an out to let him go right there, I didn't have to talk him into staying, but I NEEDED him for at least another week while I covered for the 4 employees that quit or was fired last week (all for unrelated reasons). I figure the $60 was an investment in keeping my job 'easier', my customers not suffering as much, and my final 'good deed' for the year!Blush

Anyway, I gotta go get ready for work. Gotta a lotta stuff to do.

Why, hello there!

By: MNolen in Life - on October 25th, 2008

It has been forever since I got on, hell since I was ABLE to get on. The move went ok, I guess as good as can be expected. My job is going really well. Clint, thought, is still searching for a job. I think I told yall about us both applying for the same company, and it turned out that his dad's first cousin was a manager there, and we didn't even know Clint had family in East Texas. Anyway, Clint couldn't ge tthe job, turns out, BECAUSE of his dad's cousin. He is the manager, and the company worn let family supervise family members. The cousin called HR and let them know that they only met once when Clint was a baby, but they still wouldn't go for it. One company offered him a job, but he has to go to training for a CDL for a month, but it is unpaid, since they pay for the classes. We are staying positive though. Turns out Alcoa is laying off the rest of the plant by the end of November. So at least we got out before all those other people.

The renters in our house are working out great. Paying on time, and I told them they can do what ever they was to the house, as long as they are not tearing it up. They already replaced some rotten boards on the trim outside, that we never had a chance to fix. Maybe we will end up selling it to them through their monthly payments, but we will have to see…it can just be extra income. Not worried about it right now.

Kaylie is doing good in school. She loves her new teacher, and they have already had a field trip to a pumpkin patch. She was super excited, cause she got to decorate her own pumpkin.

The only thing that sucks right now is that we are still staying with my dad. That is weird, right now, to say the least. His girlfriend is starting to get on our nerves. She is starting to get onto the girls right infront of Clint and I and it is pissing us off. We are RIGHT THERE! Let us correct our own kids!!!!

I just wanted to drop a line, since Dawn called last week to see how we were doing. My email changed a little. For those of you that have it, the first part is the same, just the domain name changed. It is @ymail.com instead of @sbcglobal.net Nestle, send me an Email, I think I am close to you. I am about an hour west of Shreveport now.

Until next time…..Peeve on!

My Hair

By: AKsnowbunnie in Life - on October 23rd, 2008

It's already faded to a pinkish color. The bottle says it lasts 4-6 weeks, but we did some tinkering so it was supposed to last longer. Looks like I gotta call the hair dresser and get it redone already, and time to do some thinking about how to get it to last longer! I may have to find a new type of color to use. Manic Panic was always the best, this Color Fiend sucks!!

Update!!

By: AKsnowbunnie in People Who Are..., Life, Motherhood/Moms, Fatherhood/Dads, Travel - on October 22nd, 2008

I have decided to fly home for X-mas after all. I did some thinking, and kinda weighed things out. If I don't go home, then my holiday is ruined, as well as my mothers, my fathers, and all my friends. If I do go home, the only holiday being ruined is my brothers wife. So I decided SCREW HER she can buck up and do her part of "joining my family". I didn't marry anyone, she did. I talked to my parents, and they both agree. Apparently my brother, without knowing I was going to cancel, flipped out on her last night about how she wasn't going to get her way this holiday.

I just think it's really sad and pathetic on her part to try to make plans when she knows I'm coming in. I guess my brother told her flat out "my sister is flying in from Alaska for X-mas, she is the priority". And I don't see why that needed to be said. I'm not married, but if I was I wouldn't expect to do anything but go to see the person traveling in from that far away. So after talking to my parents it seems that *I* am the cause of my brother "putting her in her place" in terms of these things. It's about damn time too!!!!

I could see if they wanted to have their own thing at their house for the babies first x-mas, but that's not the case. She just wants to go to her moms house and do their "traditional" things. I told my parents and they agreed - she married my brother and now they have a kid, it's time for them to make their OWN traditions and "break the chains" from how things were. They ARE their own family now, not her family or his family, THEIR family. I hope she gets this through her head and I don't have to knock it in there for her!

This will be the FIRST holiday since they got married that she will not get her way and be with her family. *slams foot down* Screw her, that evil succubus b*tch.

A few things

By: AKsnowbunnie in Work Peeves, People Who Are..., Loud, Bossy, Snobs, OT: Not Necessarily a Pet Peeve, Life, Sports, Rude - on October 14th, 2008

Rant: Work internet sucks!! We have to reset constantly, and we can't seem to hold our connection. Satellite internet blows chunks, but there is nothing we can do about it unless we want to spend a few million. And we're not big enough of a company to do that!

Rave: Hockey meet and greet tonight, I get to meet ALL the players and it's free. Also, I bought my ticket for the opening game on Friday night! I'd hit on a player but they don't have enough teeth!

Rant: My roommate with his "you should" nonsense. Just because I live with him does not mean he is welcome to tell me how I should live or what I should do in terms of ANYTHING that does not effect him or our living conditions. He did it when I bought my car "you should get this, you should get this" he did it when I talked about getting a laptop "you should get this, you should look into this". And now he's done it with my winter tires "Well you should have done this or this or this instead". SHUT IT and stay the HELL out of my business!

Rave: Winter is TOTALLY here. It's been snowing all day, and they're saying 9" by tonight. AND my studs (that my roommate said were a waste of money) have already come in handy TWO DAYS in a row!! My Equinox is a freakin' tank!! I ♥ it so much!

I'll try to stop by again tomorrow, but if it's cloudy in Canada we probably won't have internet again at the office… Wait did I say Canada? I think I meant Tahiti… no no wait I mean France… oh no I mean… who the hell knows!

NEW PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION

This is probably the best e-mail I've seen in a long, long time. The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA.  This guy should run for President one day…

'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to

help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, and delusional.  We hold these

truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights.'

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth.  More power to you if you can  legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended.  This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone –not just you!   You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm.  If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes.  This one is my pet peeve…get an education and go to work…don't expect everyone else to take care of you!

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care.  That would be nice, but if it would turn out the same way as current public housing, we're not interested in public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people.  If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you put away for the rest of your sorry life.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job.  All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness.  Being an America means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who  were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country.  We don't care where you are from, English is our language.  Learn it or go back to wherever you came from!

(and last but not least….)

ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage.  This country was founded on the belief in one God.  You are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all, with no fear of persecution.  The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!

If you agree, share this with a friend.

No, you don't have to, and nothing tragic will befall you if you don't.

I just think it's about time common sense is allowed to flourish.

Sensible people of the United States , speak out, because if you do not, who will?
